I hope someone can help with my odd issue. i see alot of threads of "connection to server lost" but none quite like mine.here are the specs:
I have a Master Tv server running on a windows 7 box. the machine has 2 gigs of ram, is a AMD athlon 64 processor 3200+ 2.00 GHZ. server seem to run fine but i really can't watch TV from it. the video is very choppy and the audio and video can be delayed up to and over a minute. I don't really care cause it really is meant just to be a server
I have a Windows 7 client box. on this box i don't have the specs on this box right with me. i can watch TV pretty good. the video does get choppy sometimes but is usually very minor (if you have suggestions to help on this that would be cool too but not why i am writing today) and the audio and video stay pretty synced as well.
now on to the troubled machine. i have a dell laptop intel core i5-2520M CPU 2.50 GHZ with 4.0 gigs of RAM running windows 7 64 bit. when i install MP on here the first time i launch it it fully loads to the TV but tells me that the TV server connection is lost and MP becomes "un-usable" (mose dissapears and seems like its frozen) and i have to use the task manager to close it. after that everytime i launch MP it hangs for a long timew at "loading windows plugins" which i do not have any installed and then MP dissapears from view although i see it in my taskbar. i cannot restore it from the taskbar and the only way to close it is again through task manager. i have to completly uninstall it and re-install it to get it to launch to the tv screen again, but then i repeat the whole process again.
this is a really good laptop and i do not understand why this is happening. can anyone give me any ideas?? this laptop is in my office and has no physical TV's around. so this is where i want it to work the most!!!
***EDIT*** so i went to my server and changed the Gentle.config file from my servers name to it's IP address. i then went back to my laptop and did the same thing. Now media portal opens and will go to the screen where i can "turn on the TV" but it feezes there and i get no video. i have to use the task manager to get out. i can bring up the guide and it will freeze for like 2 minutes when i try to change the channels in the guide. and if i try and start video from the guide it freezes it up altogether and again i need to use task manager to close MP.
does anyone have any suggestions at all???
