Find a MP user near you.. (1 Viewer)

I have often thought it wodul be helpfull to have a feature on the site that allows you to 'find' other MP users that are near to you, either to meet and see how MP works or just to chat with about problems. Some sort of map or localization thing. Also, it allows the MP team to gauge where MP is and isnt being used.

I for one wodul be happy to pop around to someones houese and spend an hour or so helping them out in exchange for a cuppa!! Lets not forget, MP is pretty daunting when you are new...

would be possible, yes. Users would have to add their location manualy to the map to respect privacy and to have reliable data/infos.
For internal use we have Googly Analytics so no need to rely on untrustable data from the location-field.

You know... this could be a decent idea for organizing regional meetings. It might be a little odd to start inviting random people over to your house (its a crazy world nowadays), but if you knew of a decent concentration of people nearby it could perhaps create enough buzz to gather at a local bar or something and exchange ideas. Hell, if you had a good wireless connection, you could use TeamViewer to patch into your HTPC back home, and demonstrate if you wanted. Other people could do the same and you could compare setups.
