I wanted to change from Media Center to Mediaportal but can not get even to install! I get a message that you have to intall ActiveX 9c. However it is already installed. I tried installing it again and it says finished immeadiately. I try to run Mediaportal install and I get the same message again.

This is really the wrong place for this thread.
Briefly: I suspect you're trying to install MediaPortal 2. I'd advise to go with MediaPortal 1. Newer is not always better. In this case, MP2 is a work in progress; MP1 is mature and stable. There's nothing wrong with MP1.
