How to keep my record request after PC reboot? (1 Viewer)

Twice now I have right clicked on a movie in the EPG that was showing the next day, turned off my PC for the night and thought the movie would be recorded as requested. But it seems that turning off my PC wipes the record request.

Is there any way of making a record request survive a PC reboot?

    Hi,

You said: "turned off my PC for the night" and asked "Is there any way of making a record request survive a PC reboot?"

    I don't understand you.

I go to the EPG and right click a movie and set it to record. I can close Media Portal down and it will still record. If I set it to record a movie that's on tomorrow, say, close MP and reboot my PC or close it down for the night and fire it up the next day the record setting is lost.

Yet there is an option to record a choice of future showings of that title implying that record settings are saved. But they're not.

And why do I have to keep restarting the TV service?

    Hello helen

The record settings are saved. Your EPG data may be changing.
What source do you use to get your EPG data? (...for example: XMLTV, WebEPG, built in DVB EPG grabber...)

And why do I have to keep restarting the TV service?
    You shouldn't need to.
In what circumstance are you restarting the TV service, and why do you feel like you need to do that?

    Regards,
    mm

I've looked in the TV Configuration utility under DVB-EPG grabber but can't see anywhere to select a source.

Sometimes when I start MP, at the splash screen with all the film posters, it will say Waiting for TV service to start up". Everything else, plugins, etc, will load up then when I try to go to TV or the EPG I get a screen with a cog on in asking for technical info (I don't have that screen on now so I'm having to remember). To solve this I have to run the TV Config utility which, while it boots up, will show a dialogue box which says "The TV service is not running. Run it now?" or words to that effect.

Thanks for checking that for me and finding the problem. So how do I fix it?
