That is the point of the "select last active module". If you're only ever using TV then I would have thought that should be enough. Of course you have to enter TV manually for the first time using MP, but after that...

Ok there is a lot of messages here I will try to answer all.
There is some confusion about what functionality I'm after.
And some here saying it's not possible.
e.g. I'm watching Tv (full screen ) and I i switch off . Which is the way the HTPC goes into standby.
Switch HTPC back on and I should be right back into the full tv screen, possibly the same channel.

So is it possible ? Here is a link from an issues raised in 2007 where some one is saying their MP has stopped doing this specific functionality and others also saying it has stopped doing it.

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...le-after-standby-hibernate-not-working.31396/

Please read the reply by the MP developer group member called Gibman. This appears to be what i'm after also.

Now, before i rebuilt HTPC if i closed MP through say Alt F4 and then did a restart of the PC it would start MP up and put me right back into the full tv screen i was watching before i shut it down.

I'm assuming that on a Alt F4, closes MP gracefully and records the last screen with i think ID =1.

However during a go to sleep I'm not sure what happens. When it wakes up it stops usually in the tv guide or the "TV on" windows. And the tv on button is deselected. What I think happens is that the TV services wasn't available yet so it couldn't witch to full tv screen.

In regard to modifying the xml file. Yes i did set the option as per the other links suggested fix.
It actually came up with a "full screen" still of the last image that was on TV before i shut it down when it came out of standby.
Then it crashed. This was the FolderDatabase3.db3 corruption.

I tried fixing it with the sqlite.exe commands but with no luck so i just renamed it.
That got it working again.

Yes i have had the SQL lite corruption twice before.
I've also had the guide not load. But pressing the guide button on the remote a second time loads it.
I've also had MP crash yet the service continue to run at least twice. So no interface but the process is still running.

I believe that this is the crash you mentioned.

I am wondering if the system has been tested for stability on win8.1 64bit. as
my errors seem to be unrelated.

Just of note I've run Windows Media player and VLC and other products and the system is rock solid.

I hope i have answered all questions. Please let me know if you need more logs or additional information.

All help appreciated.

Eric,

MediaPortal functions along certain principles, on of which is that Live TV is equivalent of the HTPC not being idle. Because of this MediaPortal's powerscheduler will never send the HTPC into standby while Live TV is on.

Terminating MediaPortal via Alt-F4 kind of kills the Live TV process, which can sometimes lead to unpredictable results upon resume. MediaPortal's officail way of being stabdby'ed is either via the menu commands or through its inbuilt powerscheduler functionality. Both would not be compatible with your wish to bring it immediately back into Live TV.

In essence, your habit to use Alt-F4 to close the MediaPortal window is prone to damage databases.

Regarding stability: I can only speak for myself. Never, ever did I have a damaged database on my productive system.

Hello again

Please read the reply by the MP developer group member called Gibman. This appears to be what i'm after also.
The settings that gibman references are 100% equivalent to the settings that I have referred you to several times now. The configuration user interface manipulates those exact settings in the MediaPortal.xml configuration file.
Once again, we're talking about:
• select last active module (general -> startup/resume settings)
• when entering the TV screen (TV/radio -> TV - general tab)
• turn on TV
• directly show fullscreen TV

If you've enabled those settings and you're still not getting what you want then please post fresh log files. This is a new install so the log files in other threads are out of date now (different settings etc.), and the log files you've posted in this thread don't show a successful standby/resume cycle. On that point...

It actually came up with a "full screen" still of the last image that was on TV before i shut it down when it came out of standby.
Then it crashed. This was the FolderDatabase3.db3 corruption.
I can see the crash you're talking about. However, the logs clearly show that the crash occurred as the PC was entering standby (while automatically stopping TV)... not when it came out of standby. Either way it doesn't really make much of a difference, because the database corruption definitely caused the crash... and as I said in my previous post, I believe the crash was caused by the unexpected system issue or power loss which occurred after 11:15 PM on 26 June. Windows has logged the event in the system event log:

Based on this evidence, I do not believe your system is stable. I predict that MediaPortal will continue to experience problems including SQLite DB corruption until you sort this out. Further, I do not believe there is any point in trying to get MP to start live TV automatically after resume until you have sorted this out.

Regards,

As per my post: I think the database damage is caused by the unexpected system shutdowns. I would have thought alt+f4 should be no problem. It's just a different way of closing MP. Termination via task manager would be a different story.

I would have to agree with MM that there is an issue with the hardware of this machine.
As I dig deeper into the logs from this machine I find all kinds of issues related to USB devices (one being the USB HD).
Note: everything I am posting here is a small amount of info I found in all the logs posted.

Ok..again a lot of questions.
Firstly I don't usually use the alt F4 to close down MP.
I assumed both alt f4 and the "x" to close the window were allowed as they haven't been disabled.
I use them when I want to get back into the pc to look at my config settings etc.
But during normal use I don't shut MP down at all as it's predominantly a media pc and MP is the main app.

I've searched my event logs and can't find the an error for my USB drive which is drive F:
My pc does however still notify me on PC startup that it is connecting to F: drive. Even though I have disabled notifications.
Is there something I need to set on a USB Hard drive so it doesn't' cause any errors.

I do have one other issue which may account for the unexpected shutdown messages.
If I place MP into standby mode it will come out without issues after a short period of time.
However, if I place it into standby mode for the night and I go to wake it up the next morning.
My blue power light comes on.
No hard drive light comes on.
No wireless keyboard, Remove, usb keyboard or mouse keyboard will however bring it into a state where there is a anything on the screen other than a black screen.
In those cases I am forced to hit the restart button.

I have these settings
• select last active module (general -> startup/resume settings)
• when entering the TV screen (TV/radio -> TV - general tab)
• turn on TV
• directly show fullscreen TV

According to Gibman instuctions

What happens if u watch TV in fullscreen then hit alt-F4.
Now restart MP...where does it start at now ?

Try and edit your mediaportal.xml file;

yes

1

yes

Now try and start MP ...it should resume fullscreen TV.
MPUserfromGER then replies

MP resumes with LiveTV in fullscreen! So that works.

So this appears to me that MP on a resume opens in full tv mode without having to select or pressing any other menu items.
This makes sense as this is how pvr operate. As some repliers are saying it doesn't do this I'm assuming that this functionality has never worked on their system.

ok here is another log
I started my pc.
then I used the watchdog to start mp
started ok. Automatically place into guide.
click on program and went to full screen tv.
Waited 1 minute (approx.)
Placed PC into standby using remote.

Waited approx. 1 minuite. woke up PC
Screen opens full tv but with frozen image. maybe due to my xml setting .
MP is now stuck
Windows generates error shuts down mp.
Mp now write out log.

MP Gui has crashed but service is still running so watchdog is still waiting
I manual get watch dog to generate a second lot of logs.
I then have to manually kill the process in task manager to restart it.
Watch dog senses I have killed the process and writes a third lot of logs

I assumed both alt f4 and the "x" to close the window were allowed as they haven't been disabled.
They're fine. You can use them.

I use them when I want to get back into the pc to look at my config settings etc.
But during normal use I don't shut MP down at all as it's predominantly a media pc and MP is the main app.
That's understood. Note you can also use alt+enter to toggle MP between windowed and full screen modes.

Is there something I need to set on a USB Hard drive so it doesn't' cause any errors.
Pass. I don't see the USB errors that breese was referring to.

I do have one other issue which may account for the unexpected shutdown messages...
Yes, that would certainly account for the unexpected shutdown messages.
It is not good to be restarting the machine like this.
Again, I strongly advise you to make finding and fixing whatever is causing this problem your primary focus. Forget about trying to get MP to resume into full screen TV automatically until your PC can standby and resume properly. If I were you I'd be looking at BIOS/EFI configuration, Windows power management configuration, drivers... checking that my hardware is compatible with the power saving mode(s) I'm using... (the list goes on)

I have these settings...
Good.

This makes sense as this is how pvr operate. As some repliers are saying it doesn't do this I'm assuming that this functionality has never worked on their system.
I understand this is how you want your system to operate. Please remember MP is more than just a PVR, and everybody has different expectations. I expect we'll find a solution for you eventually... but as above, right now you've got bigger problems on your hands.

Aside: I don't put much if any stock in the thread that you linked. It's 7 years old. That's ancient. Almost pre-historic in MP terms. I mean, those people are using a version of MP where TV Server was integrated in MP. MP hasn't been like that for at least 5 years now, and there have been uncountable thousands of code changes since then.

ok here is another log...
Screen opens full tv but with frozen image. maybe due to my xml setting .
The frozen image has nothing to do with your XML setting and everything to do with the fact that your picture DB file (PictureDatabase.db3) is [still] corrupt. The explanation is almost identical to the explanation in my previous response to you. MP is crashing as it enters standby due to the corrupt SQLite database, which is caused by the hard PC restarts.

ok so how about I try this logical approach to see if I can resolve some issues

1. Disconnect my usb drive.
• I don’t need it for tv watching it has my movies on it and i can re-point they MP config setting to my tv recording on the internal hard drive
2. I will reset the xml file set it back to what it was. If not already done so by the system
3. I will rename the broken sql lite db to .old so they are recreated.
4. Remove start MP on windows startup for the time being.
5. Restart pc
6. Kick off MP using Wathdog app.
7. Go to full screen mode.
8. Put it into standby for s a few minutes and wake it.
9. Then close MP using alt f4 and post logs again.

In addition I will shutdown Mp at night using alf f4 and let windows 8.1 put the pc to sleep and see if it wakes in the morning. From my readings standby/wake are a dark art and tend to not work without assistance.

Can anyone see any other actions I can take to isolate my issues ?[DOUBLEPOST=1435469542][/DOUBLEPOST]Just as an afterthought. MS is about to rollout windows 10. Has MP been tested on windows 10?
