Most likely the black screen with HD channels has someting to do with your codec settings. I had the same problem while using FFDShow. Since that I am using the Cyberlink PowerDVD codec I can watch HD channels without any problem.

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD installed. Besides, the problem is with HD TV, not DVD. I don't see how PowerDVD codecs have anything to do with HDTV.

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD installed. Besides, the problem is with HD TV, not DVD. I don't see how PowerDVD codecs have anything to do with HDTV.

PowerDVD includes h264 codec in addition to MPEG2.

You must mean PDVD 8 as I have 7 and no h264.

As for MediaPortal: I'm completely done with it.
I'll go on the lookout for a nice HD settop-box with recording capabilities. I need something that is -and remains- stable.

PowerDVD 7 Ultra (i.e. version 7.3) provides an H264 decoder as well because it supports Blu-ray and HD-DVD
