Hi, all.

From what I've seen, there are 3 popular TV Server engines: MediaPortal, NextPVR & ARGUS TV.

Do any of these TV Server engines have any history together? Meaning, is one a fork of another or were they all developed from scratch?

Just curious.

The MediaPortal project was founded by an XBMC founder who wanted TV support. He ("frodo") forked XBMC, and MediaPortal diverged from that point.

My understanding is that NextPVR (formerly GB-PVR) has a completely independent development path.

I'm not so sure about ARGUS (formerly ForTheRecord). My understanding is that the developer(s) started out as MP users. I have heard there may have been a disagreement at some point between them and this team or community, but that was before my time. Whether their code is or was based on TV Server's code is something I don't know.
