    Hello world,

after I wake up my HTPC form hibernating to watch a movie (MyFilms) or series (MySeries) the whole HTPC freezes. Nothing else is possible anymore... No Strg+Alt+Del, no mouse, nothing. So I have to hard switch off an on again. After this everything works fine...

    I'm running MP 15 on a Windows 10 1607 machine.

Please see attached the LogFile. There are a lot of "NULL"s at the end of the logfile.

After the reboot the next log file begins exactly the same...
Please let me know, if you need more information.

    Please, help me :)

    Hi

So I have to hard switch off an on again.
Hope you're aware that may cause file corruption. Not a good idea in general.

    Please see attached the LogFile.
    You start MP:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:06,202] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: MediaPortal v1.15.0.0 is starting up on Windows 10 [10.0.14393.0]
    ...
    [2016-08-24 00:06:23,120] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - D3D FullRender: MP focus

You go into the TV Series plugin:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:34,760] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Window: WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin init

    You're presented with a yes/no choice in a dialog:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:35,748] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - WindowManager: route WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin:9811->MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogYesNo:100
    [2016-08-24 00:06:35,751] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - [WIFI_REMOTE] Sending dialog open to clients
    [2016-08-24 00:06:35,758] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - DialogWindow: MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogYesNo init

    You make your choice:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:37,664] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - WindowManager: unroute to MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogYesNo:100->WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin:9811
    [2016-08-24 00:06:37,667] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - [WIFI_REMOTE] Sending dialog close to clients
    [2016-08-24 00:06:37,698] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Window: WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin deinit

You play "The 100" S01E01 for 5 seconds:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:38,068] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - g_Player.Play(E:\Series\The 100\Season 1\S01E01 - Pilot.mkv Video)
    ...
    [2016-08-24 00:06:43,116] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: Stopping media

You go back to the MP home screen:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:48,584] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Window: WindowPlugins.home.GUIBasicHome init

You ask the system to hibernate:
    [2016-08-24 00:06:51,634] [Log ] [41 ] [DEBUG] - WindowsController: Performing ExitWindows Hibernate, force: False
    ...
    [2016-08-24 00:06:52,003] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST (PBT_APMSUSPEND)

    You wake the system:
    [2016-08-24 00:07:28,228] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST (PBT_APMRESUMESUSPEND)

You go into the TV Series plugin again:
    [2016-08-24 00:08:20,073] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Window: WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin init

You're presented with a yes/no choice in a dialog again:
    [2016-08-24 00:08:21,622] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - WindowManager: route WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin:9811->MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogYesNo:100
    [2016-08-24 00:08:21,624] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - [WIFI_REMOTE] Sending dialog open to clients
    [2016-08-24 00:08:21,626] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - DialogWindow: MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogYesNo init

You "hard switch off" the system:
    (the NULLs)

So, it looks like you're failing to make your yes/no choice for some reason.

There are a lot of "NULL"s at the end of the logfile.
That's normal when you "hard switch off". It's called corruption. ;)

Please let me know, if you need more information.
Yep, please use the Watchdog tool with option 3 ("export...") to grab us full log files.

    Regards,

Thanks for your look into my log-file... You reconstructed exactly what happend yesterday...
    Just:
So, it looks like you're failing to make your yes/no choice for some reason.

I didn't fail to make the choice... Either way if I'm chose yes or no... The system freeze immediately after that.

Yep, please use the Watchdog tool with option 3 ("export...") to grab us full log files.

    There you go:

    And thanks again!

What is the choice that you're being offered?
(I can't tell from the log files.)

What happens if you resume the system, close MediaPortal (without trying to use TV Series plugin), reopen MediaPortal, then try to use the TV Series plugin?

Does the problem only happen when you attempt to use the TV Series plugin?
(I mean, what about music, TV etc.)

It's the question to resume on last stop time. It doesn't matter if I choose Yes or no or if I choose a different unseen episode.

    Okay.

My current guess/theory is that the problem is something to do with MP having to try to access the E: drive (your NAS???).

Please try to reproduce the problem playing media from a local disk (eg. C: or D: ).

I'm sorry to inform you that all my series and my movies are on a local drive. Both are on E.

But I will try another thing... I copy a movie to drive D, where my recordings are stored, which are played without any problems.

My next guess would be something with the codec is wrong?! I updated to the latest LAV with the latest MediaPortal update (1.15).

    I'll be back :)

So... That didn't solve anything... But I tried something different:
I copied a recorded file (from MediaPortal, of course) to the drive E where the movies and series are stored... And that worked like charm. Trying a "normal" movie made the system freezed again.

What can that be? Something working with the codec? The movie and series are mkv-containers with different formats.

    Next results of investigation:
There are no system crashs if the file is:
    • MPEG-2
    • VC-1
    • DivX/Xvid...

I don't have a VC-1i file but I guess it will work to...

So I think its just H.264 files (98% of my files)... And it dosen't matter which audio format is used.

I'm was trying to disable the LAV-Filter for H.264 Videos and changed, when I realized, that the option "Automatic decoder selection" was enabled. So I disabled this and selected the LAV Video Decoder...

    And? It's working again...

    Great, I'm so happy...

Means, that something with the other decoder (I just have PowerDVD installed) is broken... But I don't care for PowerDVD.

Thanks mm for your help, you put me in the right direction...!
