I maybe the only person who has done this but if not I wanted to port it in case someone else has the issue.
I had installed MP on my Windows 7 knowing that when I updated to Windows 10 I would loose my Media Center. All went fine. I upgraded to 10 and everything was still working great...until one day I found that none of my recording (or time shifts) worked.
What happened:
When playing around in Window 10 I tried the search option. It asked me to login with my Microsoft account. Once I did that it changed me from a normal local user account to their domain(ish) login. That is a different user, with different rights.
I went to /settings/accounts/ and clicked sign-in with local user instead of the Microsoft account
Everything now works again.
I assume if I had installed MP while signed in on the MS account I would have been fine, but changing broke the rights.
I hope this helps someone out
