Here it is, a plugin to control your Samsung SmartTV remotely!

Highlights:

• supports a wide range of commands
• tested with UE-55D8090, UE-40D5700

Installation:

• download and extract the attached file "RemoteControl Samsung SmartTV.zip" from this post and copy all required files to your MediaPortal directory manually (see manual below for detailed instructions)

Requirements:

• MediaPortal v1.6.0 or higher

• v0.6.1 – change compatibility flags to support MediaPortal v1.10.0
• v0.6.2 – architectural enhancements
• v0.6.3 – namespace adjustments, plugin requirements updated
• v0.7.0 – rework of configuration dialog
• v0.7.2 – support for MediaPortal v1.12.0

It does not make sense to post enhancement requests for other TV manufacturers, because of lack of equipment I cannot test or verify the ability to function. In case you have the required core libraries and code snippets, other TV devices can be added, but without any warranty.

looks very interesting! Is it possible to control TV settings like the "tools" menu to adjust energy saving modes? That would be great!

The plugin has the ability to open the tools menu, to navigate to the appropriate settings and to change this. The SmartTV API does not support commands like "set energy saving mode to medium.". But you have a special command to enter energy saving mode by 1-click. Hope this helps.

This plugin looks really interesting, looking forward to trying it out!
I wanted to ask, however, could it be used to power the TV on for example?
Also, can TV commands be assigned to buttons on my MediaPortal (MCE) remote?

Hi mmannai,
the plugin requires a working TV endpoint, means it is not possible to power on the TV. In a next version I would introduce button assignments for available TV commands. Please be patient, currently my free time is limited.

Micropolis, I tried the plugin and I'm very impressed and pleased with it,, works fine with my D6450UF. Thank you!

I paste the skin files in the mustayaluca skin folder in order to work, and I noticed when I connect the TV, it says UNKNOWN (192... ip) and cover the tooltips of the buttons.
