Simcard is OK / Scrambled Channels are blocked

Hello alltogether and a good evening,

    I'm new to MediaPortal.

Despite all warnings, I intend to run TV-Server in a WHS environment. The reason is, that I like the serving and backup facilities in our home network. I did all these things before manually under XP-Pro. Additionally the machine was my background videorecorder. The latter I would not like to loose.

    The staus so far:

    - Both TV-Tuners, Hauppauge HVR-1100 (DVB-T) and Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV (DVB-C) with "Kabel Deutschland" are working fine with free TV.

    - CAM and smartcard are OK - I tested it in a Vista-Mediacenter with same FloppyDTV.

    - But I do not succeed to get basically coded (German private TV) to work: Cannels are marked red; preview of TV-Server says "channels are scrambled"

Is there any hint or experience for the reason? To be honest: I do not think that TV-Server is blamable.

Probably it's an issue of WHS <==> Driver but I didn't want to miss to ask here.

    Thanks and best regards

have you mapped the channels to correct card so the channel you are selecting is decoded by the correct card?
(something I had trouble with, as well as mapping dissapeard, so check that, often)

... checked it ==> Mapping is OK. Schade

I am experiencing the same problem.
Got a FloppyDTV DVB-C with Alphacrypt and home Digital TV-subscription.
Installed with BDA-drivers and latest updates and firmware.

I can view all the (scrambled) channels perfectly with FireDTVViewer.
But the TV-server shows most of the channels as scrambled.
I cannot view a single one.

How do I check if this mapping is ok? Is this some setting in TV-server or MediaPortal?
    Some other suggestions maybe?

i have the same problem and 1 more

got a multi user setup .. seperate tvserver..
running on normal windows xp sp2 with all patches
got the multicam patch on it.
    scanning = all channels found.
2x floppy dtv (dvb-c)cards with alphacrypt and also home limburg
fireviewer .. no problem .. or MCE on vista .. no problem ..
I guess I could try an older TV server build for the scrambled channels..
(yes I think the problem is with TVserver) since tvserver is telling me the channels are scrambled..
when I go to the manual option you are able to start timeshift on any channel you like.. it works on Netherlands 1.. but gives some error like "no audio/video" when you press timeshift on rtl4,5 6 7 8 9 etc.. (which are all scrambled)..
I do see the epg user grabbing EPG guidesettings which DOES work on scrambled channels :( ..

with TVserver all channels are red and scrambled accept netherlands 1 .. which I can watch (without sound?)
My sound goes to spdif out..
when i watch something from my videos .. it is WITH sound.. (using AC3 filter)
what I am doing wrong with the sound..

anyone here who knows of a working build ? :D

    fixed...

just set timeshift and recording folder to another drive/folder..
    reboot..

    and everything works fine..
i wish everything was that easy to fix.. ;)

    Fixed it too after reinstall.
First time I installed the TV-client in its own folder and not as part of Mediaportal.
The fact that the channels show as scrambled had nothing to do with it.

    They now all show nicely!

thats a really different solution , but you run the client server on 1 machine ?

i have this seperated , so I can put it in a room where i cant be bothered with the noise if it runs 24 hours. .;)
  6. MrGhost Portal Member

Yes, 1 machine. Maybe I'll get a seperate server in the near future, but for now this will do.

    Got one problem left however:

Changing between unscrambled and scrambled channels does not work. MP freezes.
Ned 1 is unscrambled, Ned2 and so on all are scrambled. I can navigate between Ned 2 and all other channels, but as soon as I select Ned 1, I can not navigate anymore.

    Solutions are appreciated!
