I was reading this article at Toms Hardware and was interested to see the use of an IPOD TOUCH as their preferred remote for their HTPC build. Some interesting features came up: - Air mouse uses the built in accelerometer to translate hand motions into mouse movements on the screen. - It can also operate as a trackpad, allowing you to control your computer with a single finger. - Media keys & Web keys - Application notifications - Remote keyboard with modifier, function and arrow keys - Programable hotkeys (can be set to run a program or keyboard combination) - Scroll pad - Multitouch gestures (scroll & right click) - Custom sensitivity settings - Foreign language keyboards There's a video demonstration and more information here I Dont know about the pros and cons about using this with MP yet, but it does look promising.
wow, thats a pretty amazing app for the iphone, yeah i'm sure it wont be long before someone makes a profile for mediaportal, however it would be even cooler if it could have different screens on the remote depending on what activity mediaportal was doing.
Slightly offtopic, sorry, but I would really dig an iPhone remote app for Mediaportal like the one for boxee: boxee blog boxee iPhone remote app available on the App Store Have a look at the video, especially the gesture mode rules!
air mouse works great with mediaportal, but with the app running on my iPod touch battery life is really bad. after 1 - 1 1/2 hour you're all out of power.
It runs not only perfect with MP, you can use it for Windows, Firefox, whatever... as well! It's great for short useage, but if you want to use it as a real remote for MP take a look at the iPiMP plugin vor MP!
