Default [update 12-05-2008] little tool to dowload covers [MediaCoverGrabber_V1.2]

Hello,

I coded a little tool to download covers and save them as folder.jpg. You could search for movies, music and books.
At the moment there are two search services available: Amazon.com and Amazon.de

I use this for my mediaportal because it's simple and I don't need the database, just nice covers

Perhaps someone finds this tool useful. The .Net 3.5 Framework is needed.

Update V1.0 -> V1.1:

I have added the function to save a <moviename.jpg>. In the options menu you can set the file extension, and if a file with one of this extensions is found a cover will be saved.

Update V1.1 -> V1.2:

- added an option for multiple Movie files in one folder. (Requestet by MoPhat)
- improved the Directory-edit function (Note: at present only in "every Movie has it's own Folder" Mode)

Just tried using this and got an error when hitting the search button after selecting a folder that had no cover. see attached file for screen shot.

My laptop sits behind a firewall and uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. COuld this be the problem.

Look great though. Very Handy tool

Hi Jack187, thank you for that tool - its nice and works on my machine

Can you add the option to add instead the folder.jpg a <movyname>.jpg on the folder where the movie file is it?

Because i have not evrery movie in a own folder, its all in a big folder on my system... and every movie has a cover file like: Shrek3.avi > Shrek3.jpg.

or is it possible that to attach the sources to the thread so i can update the sources?

thank you

thanks for your replys

@ charli

I have send you a pm. Perhaps we can find a solution.

@ MoPhat

I have added the function to save a <moviename.jpg>. In the options menu you can set the file extension, and if a file with one of this extensions is found a cover will be saved.

The new Version V1.1 is attached in the first post.

In the next days I'll try to implement an option for more movies in one folder.

At the moment I don't want to upload the sources.

Update: 12-05-2008

- added an option for multiple Movie files in one folder. (Requestet by MoPhat)
- improved the Directory-edit function (Note: at present only in "every Movie has it's own Folder" Mode)

The new Version V1.2 is attached in the first post.

If somone finds errors, or have other suggestions to improve this tool, please fell free to post.

Regards Jack

Question Don't see any cover pictures?

Hello,

I'm trying to use your nice tool, but I have run into a problem.
It finds some covers for my dvd's but no pictures are shown, just a small square with a red cross inside...
Am I missing something in my installation or what could be the problem?

All firewalls are shutdown.

Thanks for a very handy tool!

Best Regards,

Mikael

Thank you Jack187 for the update... but unfortunately i have all videos in one folder and not in its own sub folders

look here:

D:\Movies\
Spiderman 4.avi
Iron Man 2.mpg
Star Wars Episode 12 - the last one.mov
I can only create the file the movie name if i have activated the option "every movie has it's own folder"...

can you add that the hole folder with all subfolders are crawled?

thank you for this great tool.

p.s.
if you upload the soruces here i can ad some features too inside

Nice little app but amazon is not good enough, Actually i use CoverMee for Meedios which look in IMPAwards. There is a dll for IMPAwards and other sites. You should get CoverMee and use its dll. When you install it there is a txt which give an example. Very easy!
