How to : use hauppauge remote for MP and VLC

The quality of movie player of MP is quite bad for me. I don't know how to configure codecs and other stuff, so I use vlc for movie player.

MP configuration-->movie-->movie player->check box "use external player", select VLC

The problem was I can't Pause or Stop the movie with my remote and VLC before. The solution is:

- Open with notepad (or what you want) IrRemote.ini in C:/Windows
- Find the line : [Application]
- Under [Application] there are some applications name
- Add --> VLC=
- put the text below to the end of the file

After that "restart IR" application
To use this tip you have to add "Restart IR.exe" in the "automatic windows start menu" (I don't know the english name)


Don't forget to check in
MP configuration --> Remote --> Hauppauge, the box "External processes may use the remote control"
Don't check other box.
