AC3 passthrough, the easy way (most of the times)

Download ffdshow

Set the AC3 and DTS in audio codecs to SPDIF.
This will make avi's etc passthrough to your receiver.

When you want to passthrough with the DVD player simply select ffdshow as the audio codec.

Thats it!

nb. Be sure you enable the digital out of your soundcard. some need that.

Since AC3 filter got MM merged into it ... should non-pass through ac3filter be possible now ... such that configure ac3 filter to upmix stereo to 5.1 and send it out sp/dif as ac3 and still allow ac3 to be passed through for like ac3 divx movies and dvd's? between these forums and ac3filter forums i am hoping to find a solution to this issue.
