Default Attention!! these microsoft patches fix many things!!!

Microsoft released a couple of patches which will also solve some problems for MediaPortal.
We recommend that you install them:

1st one : service pack 1 for the .net runtime 1.1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

2nd one: DXVA patch for windows media player
This patch also fixes numerous dvr-ms problems and memory leaks

But before installing the DXVA patch you'll need to install the DRM patch
first

so first install :
http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/891122/

then install :
http://www.support.microsoft.com/def...b;en-us;888656

3th : DVB patch
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896626

Installed these patches (except the ;last, I dont run SP2) and now my TV is all blurry ((((

It looks like the fields are mixed up, and there is a vertical blur added.

Worst of all, neither of the installed patched appear in the software updates so I cant uninstall them either.

ARGH.

Tried all MPEG decoders available, to no avail

running the pre version and Hauppauge 150MCE here ...

This is the step I refuse to take. DRM is bad enough, but DRM from microsoft is not getting anywhere near my computer, no matter if it is necessary to stop the dvr-ms bugs or not.

Mybe you need to update your video card drivers, too - particularly if it is an ATI Radeon, then you need to update to Catalyst 5.6?

First 2 links, yes.

Last 2 links, no - XP (or MediaPlayer 10) only according to the info in Microsoft's articles.

:?: Dude, this is just an update. The DRM stuff is already on your XP. Nobody is forced to install anything here, we just suggest things for having a trouble-free MP installation. Blame Microsoft for their buggy software which has to be patched to run without crashs etc.

In short: This update does not block anything of your Media or whatever, it just fixes some DVR-MS bugs, which do not necessarily have something to do with DRM. Remember, we don't use DRM protected DVR-MS files. So forget these three bad letters for the moment and just install that crap.

mpod is correct

windows mediaplayer already supports playback of DRM files
this update is not adding any DRM stuff, it just fixes some bugs
one of those bugs is a memory leak which occurs when playing back
dvr-ms files. So you better install it

again, this update is not gonna add/install new DRM stuff

As a followup on my problem: rebooting didnt fixed it, but switching between PAL profiles solved it... Simply switched from PAL_B to another and back again, and the image was back to normal, really weird.

And indeed, DRM *IS* already on your computer (wasnt that introduced with mediaplayer 9? Or was that 10?), as M$ always have their way on MAKING you install whatever they think you should have installed.

I wonder when I am pressed into installing SP2... Installing that crap entirely screws up IRC'ing and browsing the web whenever I run a P2P program...

You can always use a system restore point! Windows automatically creates one for each update installation..
