Would it be too much to ask you to read the first post in this thread? There's an excellent how-to by Ralph.

No it's not. I already have read it.

That's how I was able to get the text files generated by following this threads instructions. I have done everything as it's stated, but I get only the text files genrated, and it doesn't cut the commercials out, and I get no additional mpg file with the rename as it says...

Well, you gave us a lot of information what you were doing o not doing.
Asuming you're using the Postprocessing.bat file?
have you uncommented, removed the "rem", on the very end of the file?
This will call comclean, which is doing what you want to achieve.

BUt be shure you run it on a mpeg file and not on a dvr-ms file.
So first convert dvr-ms to mpeg and the ren postprocessing.bat

This How-To should work.
Be aware you downloaded the comskip.zip that’s in that How-To,
and only use these files.

Please re-read the Guide step by step.

Please pay attention to step 2:
2. Open comclean.bat (in the first lines you will see this):

@echo off
Rem comclean.bat Version 0.0.6
Rem Adapt to your framerate times 100 (PAL=2500/NTSC=2997)
set framerate=2500
Rem Adapt to where mpgtx.exe can be found
set mpgtx="C:\Programme\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Comskip\mpgtx.exe"

->Please check if the path to mpgtx.exe is right!
Mpgtx will cut out your commercials.

at step 3:
Launching Application: set the path to PostProcessing.bat

->check if you set the path to PostProcessing.bat (and not to comskip.exe)

Note: This Plugin cannot handle dvr-ms files!
I recommend to convert your recordings to Mpeg2-files!
TS-files may work, but I've never tested.

Though newer versions of comskip can handle dvr-ms files,
there is no solution to cut out the commercials and save the file to dvr-ms again.

But I think we will find a solution, soon.

So long this How-To may help...

Regards
Ralph

there is one on Erik's server to demux to mpeg, cut out commercials and remux to mpeg. Now, I think that's quite fancy.

Yes, I know about that.
What I'm still looking for is to cut dvr-ms and save it as dvr-ms again, without the step to convert to mpeg.
But I will test the new comskip version as soon as possible.

Did you have any experiences with this new version?

Regards
Ralph

I think erik's idea is to have MP recognise his file points. and just skip the commercials so the file stays the same, ie dvrms.
The only downside to this I can see to this thought is file size storage, or converting to make a DVD.
Wonder how the actual realtime testing of this is being done, without a version of comclean that works for dvrms file.

If you want to burn to a DVD you can use comskip to generate a cuttermaran project file and to do the demux.
Then you open the cuttermaran project file, define chapters etc if needed and let cuttermaran cut and mux the file to dvd mpeg format.
You can at the same time inspect the cutpoints and correct if needed.
Or do you trust Comskip blindly?

Actually, I do.
I always cut all my recordings automatically and I do not store the originals because I playback over a networked UPnP player that can not skip forward.
And my family watches the clean recordings, and complains when they see a fraction of a commercial or miss a small part of the show, I gues I spoiled them
