Country: | WMP does not natively handle .pls streams if you download and install http://jongalloway.url123.com/OpenPlsInWMP and associate pls files with it. WMP and hence MP will now play .pls streams http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/arc...21/328265.aspx

| hi, it looks interesting but I'd like to know if it does a better (or different?) job than Gabest's ShoutCast Source that I've arleady installed (recommended with MyRadio) Reading the description it is a shoutcast stream reader, just like ShoutCast Source. cheers |

WMP10 doesn't recognise .pls files though. But that's not really an issue for me. KnightAzul | |

| I haven't installed any codec packs. I can't open .pls files with WMP10. But I can play either .pls files or programmed internet radio stations (through MediaPortal setup) with MediaPortal. I previously had Meedio installed and it also played .pls files without any special installation of codecs. This was deinstalled sometime back, but perhaps it left a codec on the system which is being used? After a quick search, I found: \Windows\system32\shoutcastsource.ax I guess Meedio must have left this behind, or MediaPortal installs it. Don't know which... With this installed, how can I play .pls in WMP10 then?? Also, I have noticed when I point My Radio to a folder containing .pls files, MediaPortal will give me a submenu with each of the individual streams in the .pls file, when a .pls file is selected. However, with .asx (with multiple streams) it gives me only one entry. That said, if the first stream fails in the .asx file will it automatically go to the next stream? If so it would appear that .asx is more user-friendly in MediaPortal. KnightAzul Last edited by KnightAzul; 2006-09-01 at 13:51. |
