Default Transcoding filters etc

The MediaPortal transcoding engine uses third-party filters to enable us to transcode the DVR-MS recordings to other formats.

Here is a list of required filters etc to enable you to transcode...

DVR-MS to MPEG

To convert to MPEG you currently need the Cyberlink MPEG Multiplexer registered.

Note: This does not work for HDTV & AC3 recordings.

DVR-MS to WMV

To transcode to WMV format you will need to ensure the Dscaler codec that ships with MP is registered.

Also you'll need to grab the Windows Media Encoder 9 software here...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Note: Custom framesizes do not work yet.

DVR-MS to AVI

To transcode to XVID/AVI format you will need to ensure the Elecard video decoder is registered.
You can get the trial Elecard software here...
http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2player.shtml

And also that Xvid is installed...
http://nic.dnsalias.com/xvid.html

Note: You need to have a fast PC for Xvid transcoding as there is no 'flow control' implementation yet.

Hi DMAN

Sorry if I seem slow, but does this mean that it's only transcoding from DVR-MS to MPEG that does not support HDTV & AC3?

thanks

As far as I know yes, I cannot receive HDTV for the test...

How do you register the Cyberlink MPEG Multiplexer?

MediaPortal registers it by default now into your Windows\System32 directory.

Otherwise where the file is at the command prompt type...

REGSVR32 mpgmux.ax

Default Folder Location of Windows Media Center DVR-MS Files

I have several Recorded TV programs that I recorded using my TV tuner card and Windows Media Center. I would like to try to transcode these DVR-MS files to MPG files using MediaPortal.

When I click the TV section of MediaPortal my Windows Media Center files (i.e., my DVR-MS files) do not appear. Can I move these files into a MediaPortal subfolder so that MediaPortal will recognize them? Alternatively, can I change the folder setting to th Recorded TV folder that I use with Windows Media Center?

Thanks in advance for any help.
