Smile UK dvbt Channels

Hi,

Just thought if anyone else had problems with setting up channels that this might help. I was on the Hauppauge forums and found this useful tool; as I found previously I was having to do a full UK channel scan to pick all channels:

Scan Channels BDA Support thread here

I assume it only works for hauppauge cards, not sure if its UK only or not, but basically it will provide a text dump of the output Attachment 1783.

From this you can get the correct frequencies. I realised that for me at least the UK Crystal Palace frequencies in the SVN dvbt.xml file where slightly wrong.

Changing to the following allowed me to receive all channels:

Code:
<country name="UK - Crystal Palace" offset="167">
		<carrier frequency="482000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="506000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="530000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="538000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="562000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="578000" bandwidth="8" />
	</country>
Hope this helps someone else.

here's the details for Glasgow & surrounding areas in the UK covered by the Black Hill transmitter:

Code:
	<country name="UK - Black Hill" offset="167">
		<carrier frequency="634000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="658000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="682000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="714000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="746000" bandwidth="8" />
		<carrier frequency="826000" bandwidth="8" />
	</country>
Might be Blackhill, not really 100% sure on the name.

This is a seriously useful tool!

I can confirm it works on non-hauppauge cards as well - I ran it on my Fusions and it worked great.

I had entered an oxford section in my DVBT.xml and it didnt quite work (not getting all the channels), using this i found the extra MUX that was missing, so no more all region scans.

A big timesaver - thanks for posting the details.

Anyone know who/where to submit corrections for the dvbt.xml to?

Looks like it works with any BDA driver DVB-T card.

worked with NEBULA pci and usb cards.

Gives alot of info and takes along time to scan the whole spectrum but as you would only need ot once well worth it.

There was a thread with the UK transmitters being being updated so that the info could be put into the SVN releases but this ran out of steam; some were added but not MENDIP which is my local so I have used custom xml file for some time.

I noticed it doesn't pick upion the scrambled channels with the info but no great loss as MP doesn't deal with them anyway.

The attachment is my NEBULA MENDIP transmitter scan.
