Report Issues / Bugs:

Before you start an bugreport, make sure that you system meets the ::requirements::
After you checked the requirements, take a look at our ::Bugtracker::, to find out if your issue has allready been reported.

If the Problem is not known yet, please have a look at the correct Bugreport forum.
- Issues with MediaPortal have to be reported in the MediaPortal Bugreport forums.
  Make sure you follow the Guideline, or the thread will be deleted.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:

Install latest MediaPortal version, not necessary if already done
Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
Hopefully enjoy the new version
If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Few words for everyone testing this SVN build

To make the road towards 1.1.0 RC1 (and the 1.1.0 as well) it is really important that you people provide as good reports on the errors / bugs / findings as possible. This will include full logs, exact steps to reproduce the issue and as much additional information as possible. To keep this thread clean and useful for the software maturisation posts that aren't following the rules are just delete.

Also if you have a bug that is not new in this SVN build, please file a bug report outside this thread -> Bugreports - MediaPortal Forum

I hope that you all understand the reason behind being strict, we all share the common goal that being 1.1.0.

Hi,

If you are getting 'out of memory' messages at startup, this is because the latest beta of Moving Pictures is putting cover art and backdrops in png format in your thumbs folder in /ProgramData/Team MediaPortal/MediaPortal/Thumbs/MovingPictures

MediaPortal needs to cache png files from this folder at startup, but only the first time it runs.

In order to fix this, please delete the MovingPictures directory from this location, then start MediaPortal. After this you can configure Moving Pictures beta 2 and everything will be fine.

SVN testing should be done with Blue3 or Blue3Wide as skin, and no plugins that are not installed by the MediaPortal installer. Otherwise (sorry if this sounds harsh) we get a load of bug reports that are not related to MediaPortal itself. This makes it harder for the team to work out what is a real bug and what is not!

Like many others, I cannot imagine MediaPortal without MovingPictures. However, the fact that there is a problem right now does not make your complaints any more valid. The bug is in MovingPictures. We are assured that the next beta of MovingPictures will contain a fix.

Now can we all get back to testing :-)

GUIDELINES:

Sorry, but so far every post has been deleted because it did not follow the guidelines.

Post reported either

1. Bugs due to plugins, not due to MediaPortal (test with a clean MediaPortal install, Blue3(wide) skin and no plugins to check this).

2. Reports with no logs - the team will not be able to work out what is going on.

3. Reports stating that bugs that were previously reported for earlier SVN are now fixed. There is no need for this. Please only report if there is a bug still present in this SVN. In that case, create a new report with logs from this SVN. Of course, if someone reports a problem that you are unable to reproduce, this would be useful information (again with logs).

Sorry if you all think the team is taking an unreasonably hard line this time. However, we are getting very close to a release-candidate, and want to ensure the quality and stability of MediaPortal. This means that we must be able to identify bugs quickly, and a cluttered SVN thread prevents the team from doing this.

We are not trying to discourage people from reporting problems. On the contrary, we would like this very much indeed. However, the reports have to follow the guidelines, and a report of a problem that does not contain a description of how to reproduce the problem and log files from MediaPortal is about as much use as a nun's breasts.

I have a problem with this SVN, that I didn't have before installing it. Before this I was running the former latest SVN.

My problem is that the internal automatic refresh rate changer has seized to work with this SVN. I have never had any problems with it before. Setting "force" or "device reset" does nothing. Instead I have to use the 12noon display changer, which seems to work properly. When using the 12noon changer I see another problem though. When stopping a 23.976fps video and thus reverting to 50Hz, the GUI is really sluggish - it looks as if I'm still running 24Hz, only I'm not.

I have logged the first problem, starting and stopping a 23.976fps video.

Looks like the value you configured is not properly handled by the refresh rate changer. I'll try to reproduce this. Can you please try 23.976 in the meantime? Also "force" and "device reset" do nothing under Win7 as Win7 has its own mechanism for changing refresh rates.

Edit: Fixed in SVN 24929. Can some of the MP testers please verify this by using 23 in the RR changer?

Problem is known and is caused by the fact that Win7 does not fully support changing refresh rates during runtime of an application without resetting DWM (causes an ugly jump to the desktop and back to MP). A workaround for constant stuttering has been implemented. But there is still an issue left when 23.976fps file is the first file played in MP. See 0002675: Micro stutters after Refresh Rate changes - MediaPortal Bugtracker for more about this issue and its current status. So far no additional workaround for this behavior has been found.

Hi,

since this release im having severe problems with any kind of video playback (HD and SD) i get a lot of stuttering, and a lot of frames get dropped, every 5th frame is an out of sync glitch, with the previous version it was just fine.

Im using EVR as renderer, Vista 32bit and an ATI HD3300 running on catalyst 10.1, the problem seems not to be related to the used codec, i tried ffdshow, MPC and Cyberlink.

This will include full logs, exact steps to reproduce the issue and as much additional information as possible. To keep this thread clean and useful for the software maturisation posts that aren't following the rules are just delete. In order to fix this, please delete the MovingPictures directory from this location, then start MediaPortal. After this you can configure Moving Pictures beta 2 and everything will be fine. Link to MovingPictures issue ---> Issues with Cached Graphics SVN testing should be done with Blue3 or Blue3Wide as skin, and no plugins that are not installed by the MediaPortal installer. Otherwise (sorry if this sounds harsh) we get a load of bug reports that are not related to MediaPortal itself. This makes it harder for the team to work out what is a real bug and what is not! Like many others, I cannot imagine MediaPortal without MovingPictures. However, the fact that there is a problem right now does not make your complaints any more valid. The bug is in MovingPictures. Post reported either 1. Bugs due to plugins, not due to MediaPortal (test with a clean MediaPortal install, Blue3(wide) skin and no plugins to check this). 2. Reports with no logs - the team will not be able to work out what is going on. 3. Reports stating that bugs that were previously reported for earlier SVN are now fixed. There is no need for this. Please only report if there is a bug still present in this SVN. In that case, create a new report with logs from this SVN. Of course, if someone reports a problem that you are unable to reproduce, this would be useful information (again with logs). Sorry if you all think the team is taking an unreasonably hard line this time. However, we are getting very close to a release-candidate, and want to ensure the quality and stability of MediaPortal. This means that we must be able to identify bugs quickly, and a cluttered SVN thread prevents the team from doing this. We are not trying to discourage people from reporting problems. On the contrary, we would like this very much indeed. However, the reports have to follow the guidelines, and a report of a problem that does not contain a description of how to reproduce the problem and log files from MediaPortal is about as much use as a nun's breasts.
