here you go. i'm not sure which version this build is exactly, i think it is from some time on 22nd of Jan. let me know if it is working for you - and be warned: ugly source code ahead

this version contains a few things untested under different configurations than the one i am using. so if you have problems, please be sure to use Vista, EVR and disable exclusive mode.

(core.dll doesn't need to be replaced contrary to what i said in a previous post. mediaportal.exe will do. as for the sources: i think the relevant part is in d3dapp.cs, the mediaportal.cs stuff shouldn't be related, but i added it nontheless for your reading pleasure )

@Eabin
The new mediaportal.exe works like a charm. No more desktop shown anymore. Only downside is that the flashscreen isn't shown anymore during startup.

Is there any chance this change could be implemented in SVN with an experimental switch to turn this on(like the experimental switch a few month ago to test the new filter). This way the community can test this over a longer period to see if any issues may appear in other parts of MP, while not affecting others who don't use vista/evr.

Thanks anyway..

Eanin, If you are using tortoise can you go and do "create patch"???
That way I can add your changes to my changes :-)

Thanks!

Looks like this was a problem with the cyberlink codec pdvd7. Switched back to NVIDIA pure video for SD and did get NGC HD. Something to do with freeing up the hardware for the Cyberlink PDVD7x codec maybe?
Can't you mix PDVD7 and PDVD 7x?

Not really a tv3 issue BUT you would only run into it if you were zapping between HD and SD channels
