Hi Ravedude,
I would like to start adding descriptions to my pictures (batch editing of course!). I would like the tags to work with your plugin mod. What programme do you use to edit the exif comments? I've tried a few but for the exif description they all seem to edit the "user comment" field. I can't get anything to edit the "image description" box like you have. Does your plugin read other comment entries or does it have to be specifically the "image description field"?

Hi I have MP 0.2.3.0-RC3 + 16319 svn.
Yesterday I tried to install the new slideshow plugin. I followed the instructions and then I open MP configuration.
When I clicked on ok to exit MP configuration, MP gave me an error on slideshow plugin telling me that it couldn't load slideshow.
I'm using italian language because I'm italian.
Can I use this new plugin also with italian language?
Why is there only strings-en.xml in the plugin?
Should I install a new svn or 16319 is ok?

At the moment the plugin reads the JPEG comment marker and the exif tag 10e(hex). I can add support for the user comment field also. Comments added with irfanview and imgdescribe should work at least. ImgDescribe corrupts/loses some exif fields (there is a warning about that when you start the program.) Also Microsoft's SDK's classes corrupt some exif fields when you add/edit a field, that's why my mod edits the JPEG comment marker (I coded the comment adding/editing part myself).

You can edit the comments one by one inside mediaportal via F9/edit comment or you can create a hotkey for the edit comment action, but I assume by "batch editing" you mean that you for example add the same comment to all images in a folder etc..?

At the moment I'm a bit busy IRL, so it might take a while for the next update. In the next version I'm planning to start using fade labels, so that longer comments will scroll and a second label for comments so that you can use 2-line comments.

I think the error is because the .dlls have been compiled from a different SVN version, I have been doing some structural changes in the code to make the mod footprint smaller, and easier to add it to a newer svn version and compile. However, in my tests the plugin worked fine, except for the error in the configuration.

The strings-en.xml is included with the new strings "edit comment", etc.. If you use Italian in media portal then everything else is in Italian except the new strings, which media portal reads from the strings-en.xml if it's not found in the current language's xml.

When I overwritten windowsplugins.dll file, the enter key stopped working both on mouse/keyboard and also with the remote.

replacing it back made the enter key work but no info on pictures.

Yes, you can try that, on my system it worked fine.

I added this to my to do list, I'll see if I can replicate the bug.

Yes I would like to batch edit a directory full of jpeg files with the same comment. Can you recommend a program to batch edit the jpeg comment?

I can see the exif-infos in the property-window, but only in this window. How can i see the informations permantly, like in you sample pic ?
I've installed the latest stable version on today and copy your files in the corresponding directorie.

Is this little project still ongoing? This is in my opinion one of the biggest lacking features of media portal and I find it oustanding that someone is addressing the issue, thanks ravedude. however, it doesn't appear to work with 0.2.3 stable, or at least not on mine. I can see the image description tag in the properties dialogue in mp but not when the slide show is playing.

can we expect an update? or has anyone got an idea how to get this to work with monochrome skin using mp 0.2.3 stable?
