Country: | TV-Server Version: TVEngine3 Snapshot: 11-21-2007 01-37h Revision 16553 MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 final MediaPortal Skin: Blu Two Windows Version: Vista Ultimate Single site installation everything else in signature It's about one week i spend my nights to try to solve this problem: I installed a new VISTA, a new SQL express SP2, the last TVE3 with TVPlugin, last MP 0.2.3.0 final. Everything in the right folder. I tuned all HoBird channels with my TT3200DVBS2 without any problem(drivers 4.x.x.x not last 5.0.0.6) I open TVPlugin from MP and I tune my first channel (it takes 10-15 seconds), after I try to switch to a second channel, TVPlugin hangs for about 10seconds, after I notice 1 seconds of the previous channel and after nothing happens (any error message). If I stop timeshift and restart with another channel I get it after 10-15 seconds. What described above happens almost everytime... But not always!!! Sometime stopping and restarting TVServer I can tune first channel in about 3-5 seconds and after I can switch to other channels hundreds of times without any problem... Very strange!!!! Same HW configuration with same drivers in XP has no problems (on a second HDD). I made a lot of try and sometime for a strange reason (without any difference or setting) TVE3 works correctly restarting it. When TVE3 starts with the first cahnnel correctly I can close and open MP (Not TVServer) and it works always correctly. I think that for a developer or a tester should be usefull read the attached logs created during a situation where change channel it's impossible. I tried RAI 1 and RAI 2 channels so you have to look for RAI inside the TV logs. I tried in different ways and with different TVE. The only pseudo stable situation I have it's with a TVE3 of 14 setp and last SVN for MP0.2.3.0 RC3. Hope to get some response here. and to know if somebody else get the same situation with similar HW...

Country: | I tried this night last SVN and TVE (12-9) and the issue is still present. Same SVN in XP with no problems. In Vista the malediction persist. Can please somebody take a look on my logs and suggest something? Thanks... I hope.... PS: I have another Vista HDD Image where I use a TVEngine of september, and the last SVN of MP 0.2.3.RC3. And it works quite well every time, using always the same mediaportaldirs.xml file. The particularity of this installation is that all configuration files and DB are in MP folder instead that ProgramData (it statrted from the first tries in VISTA). I don't know if this is the fixing difference. MP with TVE3 and EVR support in VISTA give me the best results I can guess, but I can't move my versions from the situation above...

Country: | I just got a new htpc with Vista Home Premium and I experiencing the same. With my old htpc and Windows XP MCE everything works great and I had very fast channel changes. Also my test instances on other machines with Windows XP were working very fast, but now with the new one, the TVServer is so slow. I only got the TvPlugin faster by switching from MSSQL to MySQL. Now the time for displaying the mini epg is less than 1 seconds (before > 5 seconds). The problem is that the channel changes are still very slow. I had a look at my logs and I found out that in my case the server is the problem. The channel changes takes ~10 seconds in the server, but I don't know why. I have attached a part of the tv.log when I start timeshifting. MisterD |

Country: | I'm also experiencing slow channel change and also slow live TV startup (this last point is particoular huge in analog card). Obviously I'm on Vista32 too... Simone |

Country: | The long startup for analog tv, especially with sotfware encoder cards is "normal". The reason is that the server builds a big graph which includes many filters. Also there are many cases that have to be evaluated, while creating the graph. Even on my old system the startup of analog cards takes twice the time (~3-4 seconds) as of dvb cards, but it was faster than dvb cards on my new system ![]() MisterD |

Country: | Last night I tried switching between MSSql and MySql with any improvement. I tried also to store some channels on Terrestrial DTV tuner I have in the HTPC(Twinhan CI 3040) and here I don't have any problem switching different channels, so I'm starting thinking the problem is related to ThechnoTrend budget 3200 DVB-S2 drivers on Vista (because in XP with MP I don't have problems)... But the situation it's very strange because with same HW, same OS, same drivers but different TVEngine (a sept one with config files in MP dir) I don't have this problem so often. I'm using the 4.4.10.x because I get some problems with last 5.0.0.6 drivers for vista... Can somebody of the developers let us know the situation between TT budget 3200 DVBS2 board and TVE3? Which driver version should we use? Does exists a VISTA issue with MP? Hope in some help soon because this situation make me crazy ![]()

here it takes ~15/20 seconds <-- Take a look at my hardware specs, I don't think to have a old system.... Under DVB-S/T it takes ~6/8 seconds witch is a lot... Simone

Just compare to my two systems: Old: AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 2GB RAM, Geforce 6200, Skystar2, Medion MD95700 (DVB-T/Analog), Windows XP MCE Channel switching is ~1 seconds for DVB. For analog it is ~2-3 seconds for analog, but the CPU is also at 100%. Startup is a little bit slower for both. New: Intel Core2Duo E6750, 2GB RAM, Geforce 8600GS, Medion/Creatix CTX 948 (DVB-S/T, Analog), Vista Home Premium Channel switching is >10 seconds for DVB. I haven't tested analog atm. But the tune request itself is done in 1 second. I also tested the Skystar with this htpc, but I got problems with the signal quality. I will test the MD95700 with the new htpc too and than decide if I switch back to XP. MisterD

Country: | I don't understand why we don't get an answer from somebody from the developers that tell: "Yes we know the problem and we are trying to fix it" or "It's a problem impossible to fix because related to the hardware" or something similar... I can add for developers that I tried drivers 5.0.0.6 for my TT (thechnotrend) budget 3200 dvb-s2 board and the diseqc 1.0 is not working with these drivers... by the way the channel change problem with these new drivers is still present, so it's not something related to the DVB-S2 driver.
