custom/import plot for movie files

hi,

I put a jpg file next to a video file with same name.
When I press osd button on remote, the jpg file showed as thumbnail.
Is there any way to display a custom plot info in the plot field?
I know I can do this by manually edit the video database but I'm
lookig for an easier way like with thumbnails.

I tried this a while back. Created an xml file with the same tags as a recording file. I can then enter my own plot/description. It shows in the OSD, BUT then the jpg thumbnail is not visible anymore

thanks, but I don't understand what you mean about the recording file.
can you pls give a sample of that xml file you tried?

Any MP recording creates an xml file with all the recoring details.

I just made a copy of it, renamed it to the same name as the movie, edit it with notepad to put in your own descriptions.

EXCELLENT!!!
That's what i need.
OSD does not show the thumbnail but I don't care OSD,
jpg still shown in filmstrip view.
I made a little change in my skin file 'myvideo.xml'.
Instead of showing twice the filename, my version is
showing the plot and genre in the bottom of the screen.
Although 'rating' would also be useful I can't see it work

ahhhhhh
i'm stupid. i use mp 1.0 on my workstation to do some play with the skin files
but i must use mp 0.2.3 on my htpc beacuse of 'my programs' plugin.
this thing with the xml file does not work with the old mp and
'my programs' plugin does not work with the new mp.
i shoot myself down
