Default EVR on WinXP

Hi all.
How we said, EVR (Enhanced Video Renderer) can be used in WinXP too without install .net framework 3.
Is possible to use EVR on XP with Mediaportal ??? (NO Vista and NO .net framework 3).

afaik, it is not possible to use evr without installing .net 3.0.

And you will lose HW accelleration under XP also.

You cannot use EVR without .NET3. It is included in the .NET3 download. Perhaps you could extract the files from the framework, but that is way too much effort. It is in your best interest to install the .NET3 framework. More apps will begin to use it, and then you won't have a choice. It does not impact your computer in the slightest, with the possible exception of the 80 or so megs it will take up. It only loads when you are using a feature of the .net3 framework. Otherwise, it sits dormant and does not replace the .net2 or 1.1 frameworks.

P.S. The other software you are using is probably defaulting to the system renderer, because it would be poor form not to be able to play a video

In Mediaportal or in generally??

Sorry but i don't speak and undestand english very well

Two versions of the EVR exist:
The EVR media sink, for Media Foundation applications.
The EVR filter, for DirectShow applications.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms694916.aspx

The EVR filter for DirectShow applications can be used without .net3:
1) - download: evr.dll, dxva2.dll e evrprop.dll
2) - put the files in the C:/Windows/System32 folder
3) - registry the .dll
“regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\evr.dll”
“regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\evrprop.dll”

In this way EVR work on XP without installing .net3.

My questions is: is possible to use MP in this way?? (like other players).

Thanks
massimo

well i suppose, that if EVR is working generally on your system you could also use it with MediaPortal, you will then have to configure MP for the use of EVR.
This should not be a problem.

But I am curious:
Why are you installing the single files? I think there are some other positive side-effects for MediaPortal when installing .net3 .
Afaik there is a thread that says, you should use .net3 with the latest versions of MP!

But In the end: Just try it!

Cheers

There are no positive effects, but there are no negative effects either. In general, it is best to just download the .NET3 framework. The way you have done it should work, but is way too much effort. You can enable it in the config under "Filter Control" or something like that

I've got .Net 3.0 installed on XP and have trialled EVR. Frankly, I find it no better than VMR9. Colours may be a little better, but the tearing I get is quite distracting.
