| Portal Member | Hi. As it has been stated in several posts around the forum, the moviedatabase could need an overhaul. My suggestions follows:
Yes, I know the last one on the list can be somewhat done using IMDB page within MP, but its too much hassle IMO. How much work will it be to rewrite some of the stuff in TVSeries plugin to be "MoviePlugin" ? |

| I agree. I recently reinstalled mp but I have close 2 200 movies spread over 3 hard drives. I'm dreading using the built in imdb search because of all the tweaking I would have to do to get things right - getting correct movie pics, adding the proper profiles, etc.. For about 200 movies that's a real pain.. Please fix. |

Country: | A huge step in the right direction is flagging movies that are not a 100% title match. I mean pulling up Sharkboy and Lava Girl for "The Island" is understandable, but finding it whilst showing off my system is not ![]()

| I don't think that the wheel needs to be reinvented here. There are some very nice standalone movie collection management programs. The author of the MyFilms plugin (whose name escapes me) has been busily adding support for them. ANT, DVDProfiler, and Movie Collector are in with My Movies up soon. Support for My Movies will do most of what I want. There is even workable (maybe not perfect) folder monitoring in MyMovies Collection Management, but My Films will only read the .xml export for now. It would be nice if the SQL Database could be directly read. I don't know about skipping the download of coverart if there is a folder.jpg. I do know that a Folder.jpg is created and that you can change it inside the Collection Management program if you have a Higher Quality one. I recommend you check out MyMovies. Since the database moved to SQL it is a big download, but the Collection Management program is in my opinion the best one out there. |

Country: | I would love to get rid of the Play DVD plugin and integrate the movies still not on HDD into My movies. Ie. show them as movies in the movie library with coverart and profile from imdb etc, but when u press enter to play the certain movie a simple window comes up asking you to insert the disc. wouldnt be that hard to do would it? a storage factor in database that says either HDD, Original Disc, Backup Disc or maybe even something like "Enternal HDD #4" (if u have several externa usb hdds not all being used at the same time or whatever... all the movie database needs is to remember the path for a certain movie, right? Maybe even add a storage factor fysically for discs like "Action, 3rd section shelf 13" ?? |

| Portal Member | Bumpibump! Still no response from the devs about skipping downloding coverart.. And now we are on 1.0.RC1. I really want this feature, and untill this is reality the moviedatabase is useless for me. How hard can it be to do this? Its allready shown possible in the plugin.. ( "skip downloading actors" ) Perhaps create a checkmark option called "Dowload details only" |

Country: | I'm pretty sure that if there is a jpg already in the movie directory, then mymovies will use that. I was cleaning up my database recently and noticed that there were a few movies with coverart in them and instead of using the online lookup, the database automatically used the local ones. I just got my database under control. I think I have about 300 movies and it was time consuming, but not as long as I thought it would be (the very early versions were much worse). I think there wont be much movement on this front for a while, as all the devs are pretty thinly stretched at the moment and this is a great upgrade, but still just a "nice to have" and not a bug fix or vital update. Hopefully a forum member could take on this plugin as a personal project? I think it's a good place to start if TVTuners and huge MP code are too intimidating ![]() Cheers, Marcus. |
