Hi All
im currently building a HTPC and over the past two years have played with various versions from MCE, Meedio (MyHTPC and now MeediOS/Yahoo Go) and of course MP. One thing which I loved about Meedio was its ability to treat all files in a particular folder as one, this was usefull for movies as they did not need the same naming convention in order to run correctly. ie you could have GAMesMovieA.avi and GAMesMovieB.avi or GAMesMovie1.avi and GAMesMovie123.avi and as long as they were in the same folder meedio would just play them (without showing the files) in the sequential order. I also liked the way it by default would use the folder.jpg cover art which was placed in the movies folder along with the files and not always try to redownload a cover from IMDB/Amazon. Meedio and other HTPC software also once clicking on a movie would display its cover art large with the plot and other info of the related move and give the option to play it. Are these things possible with MP? has anyone else managed to pull off the things I have listed above with MP? Any info would be good as I would love to move over to MP. Thanks in advance for all your responces.

Playing around a little more with the My Video's portion of MP last night, you can also do this within My Videos. It's a little time consuming, but I cleared my database and started adding my titles by hand, doing a IMDB search, adding the files by hand in the files section, and then adding my large cover pics by hand also. When you switch to the By Name or By Year etc views in My Videos, the items in your database will be displayed and when selecting a movie with more than 1 file a little disc icon will appear in the top right hand corner for you to select which disc to start from. Pressing F3 on a movie will bring up IMDB info and a larger cover pic like usual.
I noticed that there is also a space in the databse to add a disc number I assume to promt for movies that you have on a disc, but as mine are all on HD I am not sure how this works. The only thing I would like to see implimented in My Videos is Mediainfo parsing for files (which Ant combined with My Movies plugin does do), and some nifty graphics options implimented into skins to show these graphics based upon the databse info such as resolution, codec, audio/subs tracks ect in a similar fashion to the current My TVshows plugin. Also the addition of a Box Set field would allow for some viewing by movie compliations such as Star Wars, Star Trek and so forth. Hope this helps. |
