There was an article in the Age today outlining the current situation with EPG's in australia. Definetly written from the pvr user's side in retaliation against ninemsn's latest tricks

should be good for raising awareness of the need for a freely available epg though!!

Yeah, there seems to be a bit of media in regards to this topic recently. I was reading an article on the APC Magazine website (http://www.apcstart.com/site/dwarne/...pirates-survey)

I thought this was an interesting quote given that Channel 9 seem to be trying very hard to stop anyone making data avaiable...

"In Australia, Channel 9 has been progressive in this respect though, recently unveiling a â€œcatchup TVâ€ download service for episodes of McLeodâ€™s Daughters. Channel 9, is of course, part of the PBL, which is the media conglomerate that owns APC Magazine and is a stakeholder in NineMSNâ€¦ but before you claim â€œBias!â€, Iâ€™m not spruiking for 9 just because theyâ€™re in the same group.

Theyâ€™re also one of the only TV stations in Australia to make a free electronic program guide available onlineâ€¦ if other TV stations would stop being obstinate, Windows Media Center wouldnâ€™t have been such a dismal failure in Australia and people could easily watch TV when it suited them without having to subscribe to a third party EPG like IceTV."

well that guy has done absolutely no research at all... right now channel 9 is the biggest enemy of a free epg. and abc is the only channel that has a REAL epg available (although not a very good one

)

Just had this link emailed to me. It's a petition to have EPG information made available.

heheh, I posted a comment at that APC site that was linked. I said something bad about McCleods Daughters (a VERY bad Aus TV show that is available for download) and as such my comment was removed.
