Default Grab DVB-EPG not working at all

Hi, I'm new to the Media Portal world and spent hours last night trying to get my EPG info setup using both WebEPG and using the DVB-EPG feature. neither with any success.

I'm using the new 0.2.0 RC3 with a Pinnacle PCTV 200e USB DVB-T tuner in the UK. I previously had the Pinnacle Bloatware Media center software installed, but have now removed that and maintained the drivers for the tuner, installation with Media portal went fine, it found all of my Freeview channels, and I can view and change the channels no problem, I just can't get any EPG data no matter what I try, my EPG log file only has this entry in it after 4 hours continual use, and after trying to use the WebEPG app to get XML EPG data:

Quote:
30/03/2006 22:31:00 auto-epg: cardinnacle PCTV 200e DVBT grab epg for channel:ITV2 expected:1 hours, last event in tv guide:01/01/0001 00:00:00, last grab :06/11/1971 00:00:00
so the grab DVB EPG just doesn't get anything, and my WebEPG attempts have have only yielded invalid XML in the TVGuide.xml file

My old install of the Pinnacle Media Center bundled software worked fine with the DVB EPG data, and the process of downloading the data was flawless, funny thing is if I test signal strength of the PCTV200e card with the Pinnacle software I get a full signal and quality strength, fluctuates now and again, with Media Portal I get no signal and no quality yet it scans and tunes into channels fine (although much slower then the Pinnacle software)
I really want to use the DVB EPG data as it will be more up to date if changes are made to programming

can anyone help, is the RC3 version I'm using not completed for DVB EPG data or am I doing something wrong.

can you go into MP Setup (the other desktop icon) and go TV/Channels remove all from epg database.
Then under channel settings again, backup, will make channel list.

Then close this and the easiest way to get EPG is Run Medialportal, go to settings/TV/xmltv and map each Channel you want EPG for. (I do not want scrambled tv info or the channels so they are unticked in the MP Setup)
then you need to Back out of that to the home screen and close MP.

Go to the MP programs folder and run the webepg. it usually takes 2-3 minutes download time, restart MPTV and MP automatically starts importing EPG, can also take minutes and TV and MP can seem to freeze depending on how powerful your pc is. you can then schedule Webepg to run as a service maybe once a week.
Also if you want pretty icons for each tv station do a search TV logo.

Thanks

I'm still getting Invalid XML errors using the WebEPG tool, but do you have any suggestions for getting the DVB EPG grab to work rather than relying on XML feeds, it seems stupid to download the data when it's broadcast with the DVB-T signal here in the UK

Yes DVB EPG sounds good, the only problem is if you do not view channels within that stream, then the data is not downloaded.
Trying to think why your particular card not downloading epg if you have box ticked in setup/tv/epg(default setting).
I use both and run webepg first thing sunday morning, tends too fill in some blanks i have.

Can you go into Teammediaportal\mediaportal/xmltv folder and delete tvguide.xml and try rerunning WEBEPG.
Using control, alt, delete see what processes you have running, WEBEPG runs for about 40 seconds to get all the freeview channels i use [38]

Also I know it may seem stupid but have you got .net framework 1.1 plus update + obvious you have .net 2 all installed.

Not at home currently but thanks for the comments, is having .Net 1.1 and 2.0 frameworks installed going to cause an issue with MP, should I remove 1.1 and SP updates and just run 2.0
