Question Setup

I need some help with webepg - I followed the webepg guide in the manual and the XmlTv guide in the wiki. I have imported the tvguide.xml in the XmlTv plugin and all looks ok. However I must be missing something however as when I check the tv guide in MP there is no data in it.

I assume that the settings in TV Epg Grabber tab of TV Server Config have no effect once the xmltv plugin is active - is that correct?

By the way the MP manual refers to

Quote:
2. Make sure MediaPortal Configuration, Television, Program Guide, path to tvguide.xml is set to the correct folder.

which doesn't seem to exist in the latest MP RC1 |SVN release.

Do not confuse yourself, if using TVServer\xmltv plugin the path is set there, and the folder it points to must contain the xmltv.dtd file as well, without this the tvguide.xml will not import.

How use WebEPG with Media Portal 1 and TV Server

Might help

Thanks for the link - it looks like I have the same problem as mortstar in the thread you pointed me to.

I have generated tvguide.xml and this and xmltv.dtv are present in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv (I am on Vista). I am pointing to this path in xmltv plug in TV-Server config. I have successfuly mapped and imported tvguide.xml.

But when I immediately check the TV Guide in MP I can see the schedule for approx 30 seconds but then it disappears and there is "No Data Available" listed against each tv channel!

I have attached my logs.

P.S. In TV-Server Config, General Settings, EPG I have unticked all the boxes - is that correct?

Looking through the logs it looks like xmltv import works ok..

1 minute later it imports tvguide.xml again as I vaguely recall reading somewhere it should...

However this time it states Invalid XML file...

2008-05-24 15:34:35.363000 [XmlTvImporter]: plugin:xmltv import done
When shutting down MP the inbuilt EPG grabber is disabled...

Quote:

Does that mean the inbuilt EPG grabber was running in parallel with xmltv plugin?
Is that the problem? If so how do I disable it?

fixed

I found the solution to this! I had to untick all the channels in TV Epg Grabber tab of TV Server Config.
Now my epg is pretty much complete apart from a few channels for which the grabber failed or which are missing in the grabber list (e.g. History HD, Silver HD).
