Updating WIKI

James: You asked me to help update the WIKI and post some examples of my experience creating a new grabber file(s). I know many people have commented they need more information in the WIKI and you have asked for examples many times. So I am hoping to do this, but as I have not updated a WIKI before I am not sure how to proceed. I know I can just go in and edit the WIKI, but being new to WebEPG I'd like you to review my suggestions before I post them.

First of all, I think there should be a Table of Contents listing all the WIKI pages related to WebEPG. You do have them linked on the MediaPortalSetup WebEPG/ and MediaPortal Setup Customising WebEPG/ pages. However, I think the WebEPG page should just have the description What is WebEPG and Advantages of WebEPG and then a Table of Contents with the links to various pages about WebEPG, including a separate page on Setting up WebEPG (instead of it being on the main page)

You definitely need to add a page on using the WebEPG designer. I can make a start if you like with the limited experience I have. Linked to the Main page and the Customizing WebEPG page.

I think you also need a step by step guide on creating a new grabber file from scratch. I think I can create a basic page for this and people can add their experiences and examples. Again, linked to the Main page and the Customizing WebEPG page.

Personally I think the MediaPortal WebEPG Grabber/ page needs a lot more detail and examples for almost every tag, when to use it, etc. But I realize that may be very difficult and time consuming.

Please let me know what you think and if you would like me to proceed. Would you prefer I just go ahead and update the WIKI and then you can correct any mistakes I make?

OK I have updated several pages. I added a bit to the Main MediaPortalSetup_WebEPG page. I made major changes to MediaPortal_Setup_Customising_WebEPG including a link to a new page WebEPG_Designer.

I included some examples where relevant. Do you still think I should do a complete step by step example?

I am sure a lot of the information I added will seem obvious to you and others familiar with WebEPG. I tried to write it for first time users like myself, hoping that it will enable and encourage more people to develop and maintain accurate grabber files.

There is still a lot of information missing on using the many features in the MediaPortal_WebEPG_Grabber page for more complicated grabbers. I don't understand them all yet, so can't write much on it. Maybe when I have more experience!

I will check over my changes tomorrow to see if I was brain dead when I wrote them! Let me know if you notice anything off! Cheers.
