Hi there, As I mentioned above, I have just been through all this, getting things re-encoded....playing with LAV (and ffdshow as a PP), and now just using ffdshow. There are a few features in ffdshow (that LAV doesnt do) that I need. Once you get your head around it, its quite simple in what needs to be done. I didnt think...

MP1 MP2 ATI or nVidia? DE
I had a Nvidia 7600 which was fine, picture was very impressive after having used a FX5200 before. I switched to a ATI X1600, because of the Nvidia not working in POST/BIOS on my Plasma. For my opinion the video quality is much worse! The picture does not look as crisp and sharp as with the Purevideo of Nvidia. I installed...

MP1 MP2 Modern TVs 60Hz (3 Viewers) DE
Just to comoplicate things ive actually just taken a look at the Sony Bravia range and theyre not as expensive as i thought they would be  The Sony 50W829 comes in at the same price with similar specs, but you get a whole extra 2" of screen. The reviews for it are outstanding as well. Cant decide!

I've had problems with Dual DVB too. I'm running a Novat-t (old one) and a Visionplus. The difference with mine is that I had some unpredictable behaviour with the Visionplus on it's own, so I don't know for sure if it was Dual DVB or VisionPlus or a combination of both. I've just found some more recent Twinhan BDA drivers for...

This is a good idea, I may look into it soon. So far, this board has played back HD content so smoothly that I haven't even thought about it. The playback is so much superior to what I had before that I haven't gotten around to playing with codecs, or even installing the ones I already own like PowerDVD. As to the questions...

The general consensus on SPCR is that two 80mm fans undervolted to produce the same airflow as one 120mm fan are quieter than the one 80mm fan would be... Something to keep in mind or HTPC design, especially since 80mm fans are easier to fit. I wouldn't bother with anything smaller with 80mm, though. If you need a quiet 92mm fan...
