Yes and not only channels scan but also setting shares, plugins, skin etc. (Mediaportal Wizard)
To do scan we need to have such interface in TV Server. Probably no chance to have it in TVE3 so we're awaiting TVE3.5

Okay, understood.
This is difficult because the settings that affect a tuner's behaviour can be global (ie. affect all tuners) or tuner-specific (ie. affect only one tuner).
You may notice that all the "random" or "non-bulk" tuner-specific settings are already configured in one place...

I was just gonna submit such an idea. The thing is Reinstalling Mepo is not quite as fun as it should be. Especially if you have to do it over and over again. Even more so if you have to do it on your single seat pc with all the extension and you have to relink all the movies for example in Moving Pictures or in MP Tv-series... this...

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to do a silent Automated scripted install of MediaPortal
I've searched and found this forum...
Hello,
I have a MediaPortal 1.2.x client-server environment and installation of plugins/extensions aren't very obvious.
With that I mean if a plugin is designed to be installed at the server and no client need or the opposite, if it's only a client/frontend component it should say so....and mixture of it :)
Request/Suggestion: I...

Thanks, JiRo
I am aware of these options. But as soon as you change a skin you need to repeat all the steps.
Automating this would make the MP installation just more user-friendly.

I have found a few codec packs that will automatically uninstall the gabest codecs when they are found. The trouble with that is that the gabest mpc audio codec is my preference. It will downscale dts or dd5.1 to 2 channel without stutter unlike ac3filter and ffdshow.
The problem is that a re-install of the app is required to get...

The following is related to MyVideo - not to MovingPictures.
Sometimes on update to the latest revision of MP we have to create a new database for video - if it is specified in release notes that old DBs cannot be used.
It is not a problem:
- if you have 10-20 movies (but I have > 300);
- if IMDB grabber works properly...

I just finished installing MediaPortal 1.0.2 for the third time after a mix of inconvenient events which in a way have been good, because if I didn't just so happen to have to format due to a corrupt OS, I would have given up on MP for another media center a while ago. But since I managed to get it working in the end and MediaPortal...

this would be a huge amount of work, plus money, something unviable for mp.
in my opinion even if it was not that amount of work, it is still not that holy grail. i do not think it is so much work to install windows and then mp.
plus making a livecd means:
- a noisy cdrom drive spining,
- slower transfer than from a hard drive
-...

How about one standalone version of MP? Without the need to install any OS?
Just Like a Live cd version...
