I think the windows screen saver should work fine. I don't actaully use a screen saver but if you want the screensaver to kick in when MediaPortal decides to blank the screen then you could use this little plugin I just whipped up. Don't know if it is really of any use, but hey, if it does what you want, great. Just put the dll...

Since it probably is difficult letting Windows own screensavers 'take over' when idle time runs out, why not a plugin or something...
I can't find the function to lock the tuner on a specific frequency under the tv server configuration panels. It could be a good tool to check the signal when you try to tune an antenna (DVB-T) to get the best signal.
Is that improvement suggestion already existing?

maybe it's a good thing for some people out there those only have one sat-cable but want to record on different frequencies/transponders. (some SAT-Receivers have this option (Topfield TF5000PVR))
Maybe the TV-Service could be modified for that.

The best way to do this is to simply use Power Scheduler, which is built in to the system.
When you schedule the recording then leave the system at the "home" screen. After the recording has finished MP will shut down/Hibernate or whatever you specify. It can then turn on again to make the next recording (unless you choose shut...

That's what VFD-Displays are good for ;) E.g. LCDSmartie draws a nice bar showing CPU Usage.
This is not MP running at 99% cpu but Windows / NTFS's io-system stalling.. I think it would be hard...

As far as Diskspace left goes, a simple 40gig free of 200gii although you could always have a popup or something added to the rightclick menu that shows something like:
