If you want to stick with shares view, then place a folder.jpg into each folder and you will see that picture come up in the music browser.

I think I remember on previous versions of MP that in addition to turning fading off it is also necessary to set the fade time to 0 seconds. Not sure if current version is the same but it might be worth a try.
I needed to disable fading to prevent damage to dts files when using bitperfect spdif output.

I may be wrong but I believe the answer to your conundrum is that the 'track information' only populates when there are music tags to be read. So, you need to import to the database. I can nor reproduce it at the moment! It occures sometimes with any track, if i select it from the tracklist! For me it is not a big issue, because after stopping and restarting the track all is working fine! I only wanted to inform you about this small issue!
