I solved this problem as follows: I moved to another folder with all music, starting with "A", updated music database - the error again. then moved all folders starting with "B" - once again updated the music database, the problem remained. and so as long as did not find the folder that caused the error.

Thanks for your replies and assistance. I'll try increasing the BASS buffer as you suggest tourettes, and otherwise try playing around with the soundcard settings. I've also changed my skin from Avallonis to Reflex (which is much smaller and faster) so that might help.

After adding the "part of a compilation" flag, they were found and added. I added a few more tracks last night, and I have found some of them in the Artist Tracks view. My Album view is now empty, but I will start another thread for that. Unless something like this happens again I will consider this closed.
