as I've said before the only thing I miss from meedio is it's database handling (and imports etc.) and the much much easier way of handling the menu items and external program calls (which to be totally honest, shouldn't be like what it is in MP anyway)
...but MP has much more in other areas that can cover for those
I wish luck to...

Recently came across Easy Real Media Producer, and tried it with a couple of Divx files. Was quite astonished at the quality of the results and the file size. Quality was almost indistinguishable from the original and the file size was about half of the original.
Before anyone goes off the deep end about the iniquity of Real...

MarcP or anyone else who has switched to MP from BM:
How are you using Media Portal to watch ripped DVD's and Mpegs from multiple hard drives? I'm trying to get functionality as close to the DVD Library plugin for BM as possible.
So far I've tried MyDVD's for MP, but not had much success so far.

All over Erope (and probably the world to be honest) there are two types of 'free' channels on satelite. Free-To-Air and Free-To-View
FTA channels are free and un-encripted. Anyone can tune to them with the right equipment.

So, there is no free software for XP?
If you ever get a free car, I'd doubt you'll be bitching about road-taxes
Funny, was thinking about doinating myself - this very minute!
Don't like PayPal, though....

I got fairwizard thanks to you're post. I must say its excellent, best encoder software I've used. If you use it with DivX 6 you get superb quality. I converted a 45minute show to 300meg and a 90 minute show to 600meg, both have almost DVD quality the same as the origional DVD.
Highly recommended !

Nview desktop manager can do this.
Enable the desktop manager and create profiles, when done with that you can assign hotkeys to load the profiles.
(tip: hotkeys are profile related, so in every profile you'll have to setup the hotkeys)

You get full h.264 purevideo acceleration with (very) latest PowerDVD codec. CPU usage is pretty low with it, you'd be amazed. Note that your GPU must support purevideo HD acceleration.

hi,
well it depends on the game. Regarding emulators (through My Programs) most of them are safe to be closed that way, except for zsnes (directx) [perhaps only with me] and epsxe (opengl) [known & listed bug] which must be killed or properly shut down. However if brutally killed, minor glitches may subsequently appear (original...

You didn't say anything about the "Surprise Me" feature. It lets you tell the channel guide that your favorite leading man is, say, Russell Crowe, and the device will record anything in which the A-list Aussie appears. The same goes for your favorite directors or entertainment genres.
Then it also watches if you tend to stick to a...

If you connect your TV via DVI->HDMI you can achieve 50Hz which will give you the most smooth picture.
Problem is that Samsung does not offer 1:1 pixel mapping via HDMI only via VGA. The VGA port only allows 60Hz.
