Yes - could be the case. It seems that they are not certifying software yet, but software that meets certain criteria that runs on approved hardware can be certified - all rather confused!

Hi,
I'm wondering, what will come after everybody has a mediacenter in his/her livingroom.
Does any have experience with multitouch interfaces? Where you interact with a pc with your hands, instead of a remote control.
Check out this video for an impressive demo:

Damn right, there is a HUGE difference between freeware and opensource.
Like Frodo said, this is released under the GPL, I suggest you have a read of it.
Its good to see this reassurance coming from 'da man!

Sainsburys have an offer on ATM - X-Box arcade for £99 anyone?
"Nintendo Wii from £179.97 to £149.97, whilst the Xbox 360 Arcade is to be dropped from £129.97 to £99.97. The Xbox 360 60GB is also going to be reduced from £169.97 to £139.97."
Sounds good!
Sainsburys to slash 360 to under £100

I'm evaluating MediaPortal because Micro$oft just isn't interested in creating a product that can be used in Europe. They certainly proved that with the latest TV Pack fiasco/scandal. (No DVB-C, h.264 etc). No HD (and even no SD for some) is a no go for most people I guess. MediaPortal/TVServer is still not stable enough, but I have...

You can set up AVG to update the virus definition on next computer start and not notify you when it does. This will make the experience seamless. Also, AVG uses 3MB of RAM on my setup.
AVG will also work great for those of you that have replaced the windows shell with MP on startup.

Hi,
I am working as an IT manager at a small manufacturing business right now. They are currently using an archaic dos based accounting system. They have been using the same system for over 10 years, and they get by with it but they see it's time to update.
They are also using a very outdated inventory management system. I have...

Well I installed MP on friday afternoon and most of the stuff worked without a hitch.
The biggest problem was tweaking it for performance (I only have a thuderbird 800, which is struggeling)
I still have some things to learn or setup but my first impression is very good. The EPG works for most of my channels (The Netherlands) only...

Maybe this is the most stupid question I've ever asked on this forum, but anyways, here we go:
I've taken over my satellite dish from the guy who used to live in my flat before me. He told me that I receive Astra 19.2e and I just used TV-Server configured for Astra 19.2e. No problems so far.
However, some days ago, I had a...

If you connect your TV via DVI->HDMI you can achieve 50Hz which will give you the most smooth picture.
Problem is that Samsung does not offer 1:1 pixel mapping via HDMI only via VGA. The VGA port only allows 60Hz.
(I've got a LE40R51 connected to my 6600LE via HDMI)

Giving U.I response to remote the highest priority. I sometimes find it very sluggish, often doing nothing for 20 seconds then suddenly doing all the backed up keypresses at once. I cannot begin to comprehend what it is doing that is so important as to ignore my remote key presses, but perception is everything. Using a sky+ box...

Argus has a rest API that allows XBMC to set & follow watched point markers. I don't think MP TV Server has that for XBMC (yet?). However, you can't look at XBMC as full featured for PVR use as it's limited to the features of the poorest TV server it supports (I think that's TV Headend - don't bother looking at that).
I used to get...
