Out of the box windows doesnt support MPEG2 playback.

To play .ts files (MPEG-2 Transport Stream) you have to install the folowing codec...

The Hauppauge IR is well supported by mediaportal by using a extendet irremote.ini file. you can find it in tips & tricks or the wickipages ready for download. Unless you want to use girder for some other reason.
