For GalaxyS2 (and possibly other Samsung phone and tablet) users who've switched to ICS:
Keen S2 ICS users might have noticed I've been looking at the issue with the internal player for a while. I think I've isolated the problem but, unfortunately, I couldn't successfully hack in a fix (which...
So there's something in the way that Samsung's kernels responds to this videoplayer component that's changed? Or is there is some other system middleware inbetween that I can take a look at? I'm pretty keen to try and find a solution to this since ICS is about to roll out on all S2 devices...
Back to the Galaxy S2 ICS issues again...
I played around a bit and removed Samsung's default video player completely. Unless I install something like Vplayer no application will play video (except for youtube and the flash plugin).
Ampdroid, however, still can. So I get that 2 seconds or...
"Local System" isn't really a proper user account. So it wouldn't come under "everyone" because it's "no one". ;) I think I just made that up but the local system permission doesn't allow a service to initiate network connections to my knowledge (kind of implied in the name). The "Network...
That's not the functionality the poster was talking about. They were talking about the wifi remote part of ampdroid.
As for the HDMI-out stuff example you gave... I don't really see that as being a common scenario for MediaPortal users now or in the future. But that's a different topic really.
I just want to get this straight... You're asking for support for a remote to be used with ampdroid? You want to remote control a remote control? I must be misunderstanding you because that makes no sense.
It installs its service, like all good little services do, under the system account. :p This "local system" user has access to most things any service would require. Except anything requiring credentials which is why it can't access any UNC paths off of the local system.
You need to go into...
Actually.. don't. Webmediaportal doesn't show the videoshares. It taps into moving pictures, tvseries and live tv only - not the video shares. My bad.
I'm not sure how to replicate this problem. If you set up a local folder (even if you just dump a dummy file in it) will it show up? I'm...
I had firewall dramas with mine and had to manually set up mpextended so I'm not sure how it autosets itself. But if it doesn't allow all services to the executable you shouldn't have gotten it reporting a successful connection I guess.
If I were you I'd install webmediaportal (partner...
I might try and find the stock Samsung Gingerbread player in the system apps and stuff it into the Samsung ICS roms - if possible - and see if:
a) I don't break it
b) It works with ampdroid internally
The user experience is almost exactly the same for stock Samsung ICS Roms from the last gingerbread update (some carriers didn't take the last Samsung Gingerbread update).
One of the few things to change, unfortunately, was obviously something about the default player.
Not at this stage unfortunately. I've found using the VLC encoder (which is better on the server cpu) the hardware decoding options didn't kick in for the external players but did for ffmpeg. Usually.
I switched back to Gingerbread 2.3.6 (strock rom - rooted kernel) for this reason and the...
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking there. It sounds like you're saying MP is one machine and all of your media is on another (the server)? If that's the case then it will depend on how you've set it up. You'll need UNC paths (or perhaps run MPextended under the appropriate user account if...
