    Internal volume mute?

Or upgrade to Windows Vista with its individual-app volume control :P I believe there is such functionality in MP, but it isn't functional across all the various players used, and it leads to confusion as to why no sound comes out of MP even when the system was not muted because MP was muted -...

Why does my Vista wake up randomly?

I think you would find those services either in Scheduled Tasks, or under the Services bit in Administrative Tools. Not sure, as I haven't had time to load Vista yet. I would try disabling startup items first, because they're easier to disable. Sam

Why does my Vista wake up randomly?

lol, I've been having the exact same problem on my XP machine the last few weeks. Ended up having to disable all startup apps, and re-enable them one by one. There was also a patch available for fixing XP's inability to hibernate when you have more than 1GB of RAM. It sleeps fine now, but I have...

Unable to start plugin:ECP2Plugin - SVN build 13562

Unable to start plugin:ECP2Plugin - SVN build 13562

There's been some forking with the ECP2plugin/assembly, but in the source of the original version, I've actually removed the need to find that file. The code to do that is below, but STSC (responsible for the PVRScheduler version) should know how to fix that...

Use SQL Compact instead of SQL Express

You know, you'd be surprised how many POS systems out there have an Access database as a backend. Seriously. Some of these are even multi-store systems too. While it sucks having to separately install SQL Express (hopefully Microsoft will release a merge module or something similar), recoding...

    Plugin List

Whoa, geez, Inker's right (thanks), there was no intention of offending anyone. It was just a comment. Sorry I don't speak as eloquently as you do. Anyway enough about that, it's irrelevant. As someone who has recently been burned by the duplicate plugin problem (by the MP devs too, but I...

    Plugin List

Er...isn't this what the plugins repository on the main MediaPortal site does? I'll admit there's some plugins here that aren't in the repository, but they're mainly not ready for release yet I think. Sam

    New Webinterface

Ok, seeing as people are asking, and other web interfaces are popping up left right and centre, here's what's been done so far: - the web server is pretty much feature-complete, just need to tidy up the interface and test it. Of course, it's not much fun testing the web server on its own...

MP needs its own Internal Volume Control

MP actually does for most parts, e.g. when you use My Music, the BASS player that MP uses has its own volume control inbuilt, but its not used (e.g. set at 99 all the time). I still don't get the point of having it though. Volume memory can work regardless of whether it has its own volume...

New music WIKI which explains the music functions in MP

I'm not registered on the wiki so I can't make the change, but how about adding something saying that 'the database view is similar to what you see in iTunes or Windows Media Player.' That's something readers can relate to. Sam

    Work with XML

AMS.Profile has been depreciated as far as I know, so use MediaPortal.Profile.Config instead. But if 0.2.2.0 is still using the AMS.Profile version, then your plugin won't work - you'll have to request users to upgrade to an SVN version. Hopefully a new release will come out fixing this. Sam

    New Webinterface

Let's say they add a new property to the Channel object. You would need to update the interface if you had one, but otherwise it would all still work as normal. You only need to update the MP DLLs that the web app references if you need to use the new properties. Is that a big deal? I dunno...

    New Webinterface

IIRC, the web server in VS Express and VS2005 is actually based on Cassini which is what the MP web server is based on, so it should support everything that you can do now. Cassini was developed by the ASP.NET team as a demo of how to use the new classes in .NET originally, so it would make...

    MSDE?

Ah ok, I know what you're talking about now. IIRC, there were some cartesian joins in there too. It's just that it still seems like overkill to install SQLServer 2005 on each client as well. The only other lightweight database that has sprocs is MS Access as far as I know (not sure about SQL...

    New Webinterface

The thing with MisterD's proposal is that you'll have to update the interface every time something in MP changes that affects it. Granted that's not going to be often, but its something to consider. I could also see if I can get a parameterless constructor put in for the necessary classes if...

    shutdown configuration menu

Er, it should do that already thanks to the PowerScheduler plugin. As for the button, that functionality already exists on the MCE remote, so you could probably map the action to a key on your remote for the same effect. Check out the keyboard shortcut configuration in MP setup. Sam

Sleep-Timer (Put system to sleep in x)

The My Alarm plugin has that functionality. I can't tell you if it works or not as I don't use it (the sleep timer part), but if it doesn't I'd be happy to check it out and try to fix it. Sam

    MSDE?

I think the idea is to move the music database on to the TVEngine3's DB structure (i.e. MSSQL2005) once the TV phase is completed. Otherwise, I think its not worth it installing MSDE/SQL2005Express on all client machines, the gain is minimal. As for cleaner code, what do you mean? Would MSSQL...

Two issues with MP Alarm plugin

Not sure how I missed this thread, but I'm glad to say that I've fixed all these bugs and more. I've just sent the fixed code to an MP dev who'll get it committed for me. Bug 952 - "When resuming from hibernation/standby to play a playlist/mp3 a dialog pops up & won’t go away again.": The...

Given up and moving to linux

thargs: Sounds good - I've got a PCI one. The mysql bit isn't too hard, especially if you use the defaults. The remote bit was a bit trickier, if you are using the Dvico MCE remote, see the attached doc, under Remote Installation. You probably won't have to compile LIRC like I have, as the...

Given up and moving to linux

Mmm... sorry for using the wrong teminology, you know what I mean. But yes, last time I had to download the source, compile the module, and then insert it and somehow tell it to do that every time too (I did write all the steps down once I worked it out). But come on, as opposed to a point and...

Given up and moving to linux

You're using Ubuntu Edgy Eft, 6.10, right? So it has the Dvico drivers in-built? Was an absolute pain with Dapper 6.06, as I had to compile and install the drivers manually. UPDATE: This link could be helpful for all those going to the 'other side' ;)...

    Building a TV-Server for College

Do you plan on streaming all the channels at the same time? If you want digital FTA, you'll need DVBT cards. You'll need analogue/video capture cards for the sat channels from the STB. If you want to stream 2 or more channels at the same time, you'll need multiple STBs. Many analogue cards...

    A sad, but temporary, farewell...

I've just gotten Ubuntu 6.10 downloaded, so when I get time I'll try that out - maybe they've gotten this built into the repo package. I had to hack together an installation for myth 0.19 because when I was doing it on my Ubuntu 6.06 installation, it didn't have myth 0.19 in its repos. Sam

    A sad, but temporary, farewell...

Wow, they must've gotten the new version of myth into the repository - that's how you installed it right? You're also using analog hardware, which has been out longer so its more stable. Took me ages to get my DVBT card driver installed. What do you think of the music module? Or is that not a...

How do I remove MP from autostart?

You know, if you were a bit nicer you might get some more responses. So how do you know its running if its not visible? What do you mean CTRL-ALT-DEL won't work? You can always use safe mode, then run msconfig and take MP out of the startup tab. Sam

Nice work MisterD. So it should be pretty easy for me to modify it to monitor your...

TV-server, is it stable enough to use?

Like the guy above, what TV card are you using? I've got a Dvico DVBT FusionHDTV Plus card and the only channel I can view is 7 Digital. I presume this is because TEN, Nine and ABC all use AC3 audio and something's going on that's stopping that from working... Can you see all the channels...

    New Webinterface

Alright, just to keep the momentum going, I've just completed the client discovery code for the ECP2 plugin. New Webinterface

Well now that MP's a client/server app, I don't think it makes sense to run the web server within MP anymore. So if we make the web server a seperate service, that solves the issue, right? I can't remember the exact app domain issue... Not an expert on AJAX either, but AJAX itself doesn't...
