I have just installed made my first fresh install of Mediaportal in a dedicated HTPC system. I used the 0.2.2.0 stable version and I could not find any additional updates for it (is there any?). Installation and configuration has been smooth and everything works great (but I have just been running it for 24 hours).

I really dont like the deafault skin so I wanted to change it for something else. I tried some 16:9 skins that I thought was mature enough (Spinsafe and Spinsafe Revolve) but I ran into problems (Mediaportal hang with only a dark blue background at times). I had to change version to 0.2.2.0 in references.xml to skip the warning dialog. It is stated in Spinsafe Revolve that it is tested with 0.2.2.0 why then is version set to 0.2.2.1 in references.xml?

How stable is 0.2.2.0 compared to SVN versions (is there any SVN versions that could be recommended over the stable 0.2.2.0 version)?

No, there isn't patches for 0.2.2.0 (afaik)

You could try to disable animations. They have caused me some troubles with skins.

Skins I have tested have all been more or less beta versions (or at least had lots of issues...). Usually setup has told, if the skin is not valid for the version you are using.

Spinsafe Revolve is really looking good, but it still needs lots of work to be perfect. (I've tested svn-version)

Svn can be stable, if your hardware is acting well (My Technotrend DVB-C-cards aren't). There is basicly always something not working in every svn. But usually you can choose not to use those features (for example Powerscheduler plugin causes me trouble, so I haven't enabled it).
I can't recommend any particular svn. I've installed new svn about once a week. It has usually been better than previous, but not always...
