I have Vista, and iMon (thermaltake case)
I press button directly on computer, but it's the same pressing the power-off on remote.
It DOES hibernate, since I have the htpc (2007) !

In windows 7, it also hibernates when there is active recording.

i found no other way and mapped batch file to power button. this batch file checks if special process is started, and if not - then calls hibernate function. as check for running process i used ComSkip.exe. if someone interested - i could attach this batch later here.

You could try PowerScheduler++, which is an enhanced replacement for the PowerScheduler plugin and prevents vista / win7 systems from suspending / hibernating when you push Power-Off (on your remote or even on your PC) while recording.
