Closed HDMI connection might be an issue - Don't know if that can be handled by Windows/software in any way. Maybe @Scythe42 can comment on this?

MP can't handle that as it is windows that removes the display. You would need to keep the connection alive, which will only work with hdmi switch (or maybe with a modded cable) - but that is hackery I would not rely on.

You are both talking about "cloned" display - I'm talking about "spanned" display.

I want a 2 or 4 x 1920x1080P spanned display across 4 screens through HDMI running 4 instances of MePo2.

Ahhh sorry. Interesting solution - I have no idea if that would work and if it does how good.

also there is a problem with sound, I doubt win8 supports simultaneously sending separate sounds to 4 different HDMI connections, and if it did you would need either 4 separate video cards or 4 separate sound devices.
