Before I reinvent the wheel, are there any 1080p skins in the works?

There would be no difference between a 1080i and 1080p skin - they are both 1920x1080. It's your videocard & display that would determine if it's interlaced or not. Do you know of any 1080i skins?

There is no 1920x1080 skin yet. I have talked to Vanessa about that.

All 16:9 skins scale ok sure Chili, but it is MUCH better to take advantage of the 2 billion pixels and have really detailed (not resized) graphics.

Big gfx are too slow for MP. All 16:9 skins works very fine on my 42" LCD screen. We have many users with only 512MB ram and DX9.

A plan in the future versions of mp it's support SVG files (Scalable Vector Graphics). With this feature, the resolution isn't more a problem. MP will have high quality gfx at any resolution.

The main problem is the existing skins don't scale well to 1920x1080. It appears MP isn't doing any sort of antroscopic filtering when it scales so the buttons and icons are noticably pixelated. Strangely the 4:3 themes end up looking a bit cleaner than the 720p skins I've tried, even though the buttons end up oval.

Vanessa, have you tried creating a 1080p skin? I'd be surprised if Geforce 7600+ or ATI X800+ video cards couldn't support them considering they support 3D games at this resolution. File sizes of the buttons and icons wouldn't have to increase very much for things to look better.

i have a feeling the video cards like that would be fine, but i have a feeling as vanessa said the majority of computers used for htpc are what i would call low end computer specs, a lot of the time they are lower on everything but hdd space compared to gaming machines. I too would love to see some real high res pictures in the skins and animations and so forth , but i have a feeling its going to piss off 80% of MP users with lower end systems. Not trying to piss anyone off of course

I guess, if you want to use all that processing power just for your interface...

edit: vector graphics would however be (IMO) the best way to do a hi-res interface.

You only see the interface when you do an action. Just standing there, nothing happens, whatever the resolution is.
The HTPC is dedicated. I don't really care if my CPU goes to 90% (and also I doupt it will) because I was at main menu and moving up or down. Why would I care? I couldn't affect my hardware TV card for example...

Last weekend, I uninstalled the entire mediaportal, the TV server, the Windows patches, and anything else that might be interfering. I made a backup of the plugin databases so I could restore them after the installation. Now everything works. I'm not exactly sure what was causing the problem, but now all the videos play perfectly again.

To other people reading about this 'issue', Doskabouter provided me with a fix/patch. It is a modified version of tswriter.ax which solved the problem with dolby digital plus audio. I want to thank Doskabouter for all his time and energy he put into resolving this!!

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

That could have been useful alternative to the CEC Remote, shame they stopped making the Harmony. I have not given up completely on the CEC Remote, there is an option to trigger putting the TV and AVR into standby when MP closes which I want to try, currently I do not have that enabled as it means both video and audio devices will be...
