2 TV-Cards (1 Viewer)

Hi there,

for my mediaportal i have two TV-cards. The LNB-In of my WinTV DVB-S (nexus) seems to be broken (how can i test it?).
In my vdr i used this card only for Video out and my skystar TV-Card for LNB-In.
The entry there:
SourceCaps = 1 S19.2E


Is this also possible with mediaportal?

So you want to use the video out on the Nexus to show MP on a TV (or something like that), and use the Skystar as the tuner?
Well, you can definitely use the Skystar as a tuner. I'm not sure about the Nexus though - it really depends on whether it only shows what it is tuned to on the video out, or whether it gets what it shows from the operating system (like a video card). My guess is that it only shows what it is tuned to. If the LNB input is broken then it won't be able to tune to anything, which means that you can't use the video output. Even if the tuner works I don't think the video output would show what you want because it wouldn't show the MediaPortal interface or anything like that. I could be wrong though...

Do you not have a video/graphics card with multiple outputs that you could use? You might have to buy a VGA or DVI to Component, Composite or S-Video converter, but it would be better than relying on the Nexus...

In answer to your other question: how can you tell if the Nexus LNB input is broken?
You could tell by connecting an output from a satellite dish and scanning for channels. If you're good with electronics then you could use a multimeter to check that the tuner is producing 13-14 or 18-19 Volts between the core of the cable and the shield (ground).

Hopefully that all makes sense...
