I think its still early days but has anyone looked into how we deal with 3D TV.
In Australia we have just had a new channel added that is a 3D channel.

When viewed with mediaportal (and my non-3D TV) it shows the two panes on the window with (almost) identical images.

From what I have researched the 3D TV would show only one image at a time and alternate between them.

Obviously I would need some ingenious way of creating some glasses that would syncronise with the flips.

Anyone got any interest in hacking up a method of using this
Would all this be done on a codec layer or purhaps a plugin layer that would grab the image, chop it in half then switch between them?

I am keen to see if I can code something up. Any thoughts tips appreciated.

Regards

I think you could use cheap anaglyphic glasses however it may not view as well as active shutter glasses.

Try recording the transmission and playing it back using say Stereoscopic Player.

There are several threads on whirlpool.net.au forum regarding the Australian 3D DVB trial.

The current 9/SBS transmissions are labelled as a trial, so there's no gaurantee this will be the final transmission format.

I have the NVidia 3d Vision Kit with the active shutter glasses on an Acer H5360 and live in Melbourne

I tuned in the new 3D channel and can see the side by side picture you are talking about

The only way I was able to view it in 3D was to record the channel to a .TS file, run it through Handbrake (HandBrake) and convert it to a file format that the 3d vision player could handle, and play it back

I get perfect 1080 image in 3d with perfect refresh rate, however I would prefer to be able to watch it live

I only managed this last night so its early days, anyone gotten further then me ?

It will work, but no 3D is supported by MP itself.

Would it be possible to use the below freeware Stereoscopic player and integrate it into media portal somehow to split the stream ?

    3dtv.at

It has extensive command line switches and VB scripts that can be run against it

perhaps its in the cyberlink poweredvd 10 codec? and hopefully not in the player

It's not free!!! It's a trial for the first 5 minutes! (check here)

It's good though. I hope this will be integrated into MP one day. I've got a 3D TV and I'm viewing outside MediaPortal most of my movies :-(

Will MP ever support 3D TV? What sorta Specs you using my only worry is the video card GT 220 1 GB.

Are you having to use one of those HDMI 1.4 cables as well for the TV and PC?/
