A couple of n00b questions (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to this and maybe a touch "challenged" when it come to the finer points of setting up PCs but I'm hopping someone will not mind answering my potentially stupid questions.

First one-is there any way to prevent the TV service from stopping if I choose to go from a full-screen window (with taskbar and top of window visible) to proper full-screen (no frame)? I use my HTPC for browsing the web and I am often watching time-shifted programs at the same time and it is a real pain to have the TV service stop when I minimise the MediaPortal window.

The next question is more general. I have MediPortal installed on a clunky old HP HTPC with Hauppage hybrid tuner and it works flawlessly (aside from the minor niggle mentioned above). I have tried to install it on a newer setup I've got (faster dual-core CPU, on-board graphics and sound and supposedly better PCIe tuner card and it is extremely clunky. It stops and starts every 2 seconds or so. If anyone could give me some pointers regarding what I should look at to try to improve this, it would be much appreciated. For thew record, this HTPC was also displaying the stop/start behaviour when using the WinFast PVR software that came with the tuner.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ben

    Hi there and welcome :)

Unfortunately your problem with switcing fullscreen/window cannot currently be overcome. The main objective of MP is fullscreen output and some problem (can't remember what our devs said on this...) prevent switching while video is playing.

Second problem, maybe codecs? Not sure.
Try a few different ones and see if you spot a diff.

Also consider updating your system specs and attaching logs. See my signature fr details.

In OZ the commercial stations are 1080i, and ABC/SBS use lower broadcast resolutions. Can you get back and let me know if this issue relates to all channels or just to some of the stations?

Thanks for the replies. I think I lost interest for a while hence the very slw reply.

I've gone and updated as many fields as I could manage but some were a bit of a mystery. I think my Gigabyte m'board has got some sort of onboard NVidia graphics and sound setup. I think my HDMI output to the TV comes from the rear of the m'board, as does the digital audio output. I'm not sure what codecs I'm running-how do I check?

I seem to be getting the glitching issue on all channels, even the HD ones.

    Thanks,
    Ben

EDIT: It also glitches under windows media center for all channels too.
