I have a slight problem with MediaPortal menu sounds when playing DVDs using SPDIF passthrough.

My setup is PC -> AV amp -> TV

My sound comes out perfectly in surround sound using the AC3 Filter when watching DVDs. The moment I press a button on my remote though, it plays a WAV, which obviously interferes with the output of AC3 Filter and my DVD sound completly dissappears.

I have noticed on my AV receiver (Onkyo SR-607) that while playing a DVD it is in Dolby mode, but as soon as the WAV gets played, it changes the input to something else trying to play the wav.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanx
    Hein

    Hi,

within AC3Filter there are somewhere (I have not installed it anymore) three check boxes, that DolbyDigital, dts and/or MPEG output should be done via bitstream. Have you disabeled the MPEG checkbox here?

    Thanx for your reply :)

I actually did a complete windows re-install about 2 days ago. Now using SAF4.00 only. SAF does not seem to have a option for MPEg pass-through. The problem still persists, so I disabled skin sound effects in MediaPortal Config. Not Ideal, but atleast my DVD sound does not disappear.

    Thanx
    Hein
